Press Release: Adam Scott wins in Qatar

Titleist Ambassador Adam Scott captures his second Qatar Masters title with new Titleist irons in the bag

Full-line Titleist player Adam Scott fired a sizzling final round 11-under 61 to earn a three-shot win at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters using the new Titleist AP2 irons. It was his second victory in two visits to the event, as well as his 13th career win as a professional.  Adam advanced to World Number Five with the record-setting performance in which he shaved two strokes off the course record, while achieving his personal best round as a professional.  His 20-under par 268 total matched the tournament record previously set in 1999.

Scott started the final round three shots off the lead, and posted five birdies in the first five holes.  He had 11 birdies and no bogeys on the day. He trusted Titleist equipment from tee to green including the Pro V1 ball, the new AP2 irons, 905 driver, 906F4 fairway metal, Vokey Design pitching wedge, Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and a Scotty Cameron GSS putter.

The Aussie became the first player to win with the new Titleist AP2 irons a week after Martin Kaymer's victory at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship playing the new Titleist ZM Forged irons. The Titleist AP2 irons and ZM Forged irons are two of four new Titleist irons that were introduced to the trade last week and will be available in golf shops in Europe from 15th March.

The AP2 is a technical forging, made with 1020 mild carbon steel, targeting the skilled, single digit handicap golfer who wants contemporary iron technology with traditional solid feel, looks and shot control. The AP stands for Advanced Performance, and the new irons deliver on that promise. They feature a multi-material construction and dual cavity design that combine to provide unmatched feel, forgiveness and playability in a Titleist iron. Four different materials are used in the construction of the AP irons, including a steel body, tungsten nickel steel box, central support bar with elastomer cushion and aluminum cavity plate

At the Qatar Masters, Titleist was once again the most played golf ball at the event with 71 players relying on the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than three times the nearest competitor with 20. Elsewhere two further victories for Pro V1 players on the Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour in the US boosted Titleist’s win count to 9 already this season, three times that of the nearest competitor.

Impressive victories for Titleist players Adam Scott and Martin Kaymer on the European Tour over the last two weeks with new Titleist irons in the bag plus the constant flow of wins for Pro V1 players around the world, prove once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
