Press Release: Martin Kaymer wins in Abu Dhabi

Martin Kaymer goes to wire-to-wire to capture victory with new Titleist irons.

Titleist player Martin Kaymer earned his first career PGA European Tour title when he captured the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in wire-to-wire fashion. The 23-year old, who was the 2007 European Tour Rookie of the Year, posted a 15-under par 273 total and a winning margin of four shots over Lee Westwood (Pro V1x). Kaymer became the youngest German winner in European Tour history and moved into the top 35 on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Kaymer trusted Titleist equipment including Pro V1, new ZM Forged irons, PT 904F fairway metal, 585.H utility metal, and Vokey Design pitching, sand and lob wedges.

The young German became the first player to win with the new Titleist ZM Forged irons that were introduced to the trade this week and will be available in golf shops beginning in Europe from 15th March.  The ZM Forged is one of four new irons introduced by Titleist for 2008 and is a traditional compact muscle back iron, forged with 1025 carbon steel and bright chrome plating for traditional feel, superior looks and shot control for the competitive and highly skilled golfer.

On the US PGA tour, D.J. Trahan (Pro V1, 905R driver, 906F4 3-wood, Vokey Spin Milled sand and lob wedges, Scotty Cameron putter) fired a final round 7-under 65 to charge from four shots back and win the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic by three over. Trahan birdied the final hole to finish the 90-hole tournament at 26-under 334. Kenny Perry (Pro V1x), the 1995 champion shot final round 69s to tie for third at 338.

This impressive Tour victory for Titleist player Martin Kaymer, with the new ZM forged irons, proves once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
