Press Release: Win double for Titleist
WIN DOUBLE FOR TITLEIST AMBASSADORS
Bourdy and Wagner trust Titleist equipment to secure impressive victories
Titleist staff player Grégory Bourdy rallied to shoot a final round 1-under 70 and then edge out two players including David Howell (Pro V1x) in a playoff to capture the Estoril Open de Portugal; his second European Tour victory. Bourdy posted four birdies on the back nine to force the extra holes with an 18-under 266 total. He earned the win with a par to Howell's bogey on the third.
Bourdy trusted Titleist from tee to green using the Pro V1, 907D2 driver, 906F2 fairway metal, 585.H utility metal, 670 Forged irons, Vokey Design approach wedge, Spin Milled lob wedge and Scotty Cameron Circa 62 putter.
Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Estoril Open de Portugal with 109 players, more than five times the nearest competitor with 21. Bourdy finished ahead of a clutch of Titleist ball players including play-off opponent Howell plus Miles Tunnicliff (Pro V1x), Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano (Pro V1) and Damien McGrane (Pro V1x), who finished in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively. The win is the ninth by a Titleist golf ball player on the 2008 PGA European Tour, three times the nearest competitor with three wins.
Over in the US, fellow Titleist staff player Johnson Wagner completed Titleist’s win double with his first career US PGA Tour victory, earning his first invitation to the Masters. The 28-year old Texan’s wire-to-wire win at the Shell Houston Open was sealed with a 1-under 71 to finish at 16-under 272, two shots clear of Geoff Ogilvy (Pro V1).
Like Bourdy, Wagner relied on Titleist equipment to help him secure his maiden Tour win, using Pro V1x, 905R driver, 904F fairway metal, ZB Forged irons, Vokey Design pitching and sand wedges, Spin Milled lob wedge and a Scotty Cameron prototype putter.
Wagner became the ninth player to win on the 2008 PGA Tour with a Titleist golf ball, more than all other competitors combined. Furthemore, Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Shell Houston Open with 99 players, compared to 21 for the nearest competitor. In addition to being the most played ball, Titleist was the most played iron set, wedge and putter at the tournament.
Elsewhere, on the Champions Tour, Mark Wiebe (Pro V1) recorded a wire-to-wire victory at the inaugural Cap Cana Championship, Aron Price (Pro V1x) earned his first career Nationwide Tour title in a playoff at the Livermore Valley Wine Country Championship, while Dion Fourie (Pro V1x) won the Vodacom Origins of Golf tournament in
Two more impressive victories this week for Titleist full-line staff players, and the constant flow of victories for Pro V1 players, provides further proof that the world’s best opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
