Press Release: Adam Scott wins EDS Byron Nelson Championship

SCOTT CAPTURES SECOND TITLE OF THE SEASON WITH TITLEIST ProV1 AND NEW AP2 IRONS

Titleist Ambassador Adam Scott claims dramatic play-off victory as the Pro V1 once again tops the golf ball chart

Full-line Titleist player Adam Scott captured his sixth US PGA Tour victory, and second win of the season, with a dramatic play-off victory at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. Using a full bag of Titleist clubs, including the new AP2 irons, and the Pro V1 golf ball, Scott converted a 9-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole to force a play-off with Ryan Moore. Both players finished on 7-under 273, before Scott went on to hole an incredible 48-foot putt that traveled over two ridges on the third extra hole to claim a spectacular victory.

Scott trusted Titleist from tee-to-green to take his second title of the season. His line up included the Pro V1 ball, the new AP2 irons, 905R driver, 906F4 fairway metal, Vokey Design pitching wedge, Spin Milled sand and lob wedges and a Scotty Cameron putter. Scott’s  all round game was in fine shape all week as he finished among the Top 10 in Driving Distance (7th/302.6), Putts Per GIR (9th/1.696) and Greens in Regulation (T9/63.9).

The Aussie became the first player to win with the new Titleist AP2 irons when he won the Qatar Masters on the European Tour back in January. The AP2 is a technical forging, made with 1020 mild carbon steel, targeting the skilled, single digit handicap golfer who wants contemporary iron technology with traditional solid feel, looks and shot control. The AP stands for Advanced Performance, and the new irons deliver on that promise. They feature a multi-material construction and dual cavity design that combine to provide unmatched feel, forgiveness and playability in a Titleist iron.

At the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, Titleist was once again the most played golf ball at the event with 107 players relying on the Pro V1 or Pro V1x, more than five times the nearest competitor with 21.  In fact, 75% of the players who finished among the top 7 and ties trusted Titleist golf balls for their success.  The victory was the 11th by a Titleist golf ball player on the 2008 US PGA Tour, more than twice the nearest competitor

Elsewhere, two further victories in the US for Tom Watson  (Pro V1) on the Champions Tour and Titleist full-line player Greg Chalmers (Pro V1x) on the Nationwide Tour plus wins in Australia, Canada, Japan and Korea for Pro V1 players boosted Titleist worldwide win count to 53, nearly four times more than the nearest competitor with 14.

Another impressive victory for Titleist ambassador Adam Scott with new Titleist irons in the bag plus the constant flow of wins for Pro V1 players around the world, prove once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
