Press Release: Imada trusts Titleist from tee-to-green to claim maiden PGA Tour victory

Titleist ambassador Ryuji Imada goes one better than last year and wins the AT&T Classic

Full-line Titleist player Ryuji Imada improved on his runners-up performance last year to capture the 2008 AT&T Classic and register his first US PGA Tour victory. Following an impressive final round 5-under 67 to force a tie with fellow Pro V1x loyalist Kenny Perry, a par at the first play-off hole was enough for Imada to take the title.

Imada, who lost out in a play-off in the corresponding event last year to fellow Titleist full line player Zach Johnson,  trusted Titleist from tee-to-green using the Pro V1x, 905R driver, 906F2 fairway metals, 695CB irons, Vokey Design pitch, approach and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron putter.

Another Titleist ambassador, Parker McLachlin (Pro V1x) using the new Titleist AP2 irons, shot a final round 67 to finish T5 alongside Justin Bolli (Pro V1) three shots behind Imada.  In fact, 8 of the top 10 finishers at the AT&T Classic relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at The AT&T Classic with 100 players, compared to the nearest competitor with 22. Imada becomes the 12th different player to win on the 2008 US PGA TOUR with a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball, twice the nearest competitor and more than all other golf balls combined.

It wasn’t just the winner who placed their trust in Titleist equipment.  Titleist was the #1 wedge (147) and putter (62) and tied for first in irons sets (38), as well as coming second in the driver count (35). With Imada's victory, Scotty Cameron putters have been the winning choice of 12 champions on the 2008 US PGA TOUR, three times the nearest competitor with four.  In fact, Cameron loyalists have been on a roll, winning six of the last seven events (including the Masters) and nine of the last 11.

Elsewhere, in the US, Andy Bean (Pro V1) and David Mathis (Pro V1x) won on the Champions and Nationwide Tours respectively. In South Africa, Keith Horne topped an all Pro V1x top 5 to claim victory on the Sunshine Tour. Another 4-win week for Titleist Pro V1 players saw this season’s Worldwide Wins tally rise to 63, nearly four times the next competitor with 16.

At the Irish Open on the European Tour, Titleist was the most played golf ball with 108 players (69.2%) choosing Pro V1 or Pro V1x, nearly five times more than the nearest competitor with just 22 (14.1%).

Another impressive victory this week for a Titleist full-line staff player, and the constant flow of victories for Pro V1 players, provides further proof that the world’s best opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
