Press Release: Titleist at the British Amateur Championships

TITLEIST ENJOYS CLEAN SWEEP OF ALL MAJOR EQUIPMENT CATEGORIES AT THE BRITISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Titleist’s tour favourites, including the Pro V1 ball, Titleist drivers, Vokey Design wedges and Scotty Cameron putters are the preferred choice of Europe’s top amateurs

For years now Titleist has been the #1 brand for the leading players in the amateur ranks and according to a survey carried out by Sports Marketing Surveys Ltd¹ at The Amateur Championships at Turnberry, support from the amateur ranks is stronger than ever before. Titleist was the number one choice in all of the major equipment categories: balls, drivers, fairway metals, utilities, irons, wedges and putters. From tee to green Titleist was the overwhelming choice of the field that included many of the best amateurs in Europe and even the newly crowned amateur champion used Titleist balls and had 14 Titleist clubs in his bag.

The superior performance of the legendary Pro V1 and Pro V1x continues to bolster Titleist’s #1 position on the professional tours this season and the same can be said at the top level of the amateur game too. An incredible 90% of the field at the Amateur Championships chose the #1 ball in golf, compared to just 2% for the nearest competitor.

Titleist also fared extremely well in the highly competitive driver category at the Amateur Championships taking the coveted #1 spot with 38% of the field. Similarly Titleist fairway metals were the most played with 35% of fairways metals in play. In addition, the supreme versatility of Titleist’s 585.H utility club for the better player saw Titleist top the utility category at Turnberry too with 29% of the hybrid clubs in play.

Titleist irons, including the new ZM, ZB and AP2 offerings in the ‘better player’ iron market, were also prevalent in the bags of many of Europe’s top amateur players at Turnberry as 35% of the field preferred the unmatched precision, playability and workability of Titleist forgings, nearly twice as many as the nearest competitor with 18%.

The tough Ailsa course at Turnberry demands a deft touch around the greens. More players at the British Amateur Championship placed their trust in Titleist short game tools than any other brand. Titleist Vokey Design sand and lob wedges represented an impressive 56% of the wedges in play, comfortably securing #1 position, with four times as many wedges in play than the next brand with just 14%. Titleist’s Scotty Cameron putters also took the number one spot with 34% of the field.

Achieving the #1 position in all of the main product categories at The British Amateur Championship provides even further proof that the best golfers in the world, whether they are professional or amateur, place their trust in Titleist above all others.
