Press Release: Harrington claims second Open Championship with Titleist ProV1x
TITLEIST ON TOP AGAIN AT ROYAL BIRKDALE AS HARRINGTON WINS WITH PRO V1 TO RETAIN THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

Back-to-back Open Championship victories for Pro V1 player Padraig Harrington as Titleist is the #1 ball once again
On a day when only four other players shot sub-par rounds in the testing conditions, Padraig Harrington (Pro V1x) fired a 1-under 69 in the final round of The Open Championship for a 3-over 283 total and a four-shot win over fellow Pro V1x loyalist Ian Poulter. In winning his second Major and successfully defending the title, Harrington became the first European in more than a century to win golf's oldest championship in consecutive years. A spectacular back nine from the Irishman saw him record birdies at 13 and 15, before making a stunning eagle on 17 to give him a four shot cushion going down the last.
Full line Titleist players featured strongly in the final leaderboard, with the Amateur Silver Medal winner (Pro V1x, 907D2 driver, 906 F4 fairway metal, 735 CM irons, Vokey Design wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport 1.5 putter) tied for fifth at 10-over 290. Amongst the nine players tied for seventh place at 12-over 292 included full line Titleist club players Ben Curtis (Pro V1x), Steve Stricker (Pro V1) and Robert Karlsson (Pro V1x).
Titleist golf balls continued to eclipse all others at the Open Championship and maintained the #1 position, since records began, for a remarkable 29 consecutive years. This year, 95 players (60.9%) in the field teed up at Royal Birkdale with either a Pro V1 or Pro V1x, just under four times as many as the nearest competitor with 24 players.
Equally, at the Final Open Qualifying events held at Hill Side, Southport & Ainsdale and West Lancashire, the Titleist ball count was very impressive with 88.5% of the cumulative fields opting to play Pro V1. Indeed, it was a similar story at the Regional Qualifying tournaments where 88.3% of the total field across 16 events played Pro V1.
Furthermore, Titleist was also the top choice in the iron (35), wedge (131) and putter (49) categories.
Elsewhere, victories for Richard S. Johnson (Pro V1x), Ji-young Oh (Pro V1), R.W. Eaks (Pro V1x) and Colt Knost (Pro V1x) on the PGA, LPGA, Champions and Nationwide tours respectively further boosted Titleist’s win count for the 2008 season.
Another Major victory for the legendary Pro V1 and yet another Open count victory for Titleist provides further proof, that at the highest level, the game’s elite choose Titleist above all others.
