Press Release: Independent survey reveals impressive figures for Titleist in the tour ball category
INDEPENDENT SURVEY REVEALS IMPRESSIVE FIGURES FOR TITLEIST IN THE TOUR BALL CATEGORY
Datatech survey sees Pro V1 and Pro V1x maintaining their leadership of the Tour ball sector
Titleist, the #1 ball in golf, continues to record high market shares within the Tour ball category, according to the most recent Golf Datatech UK retail audit. The Pro V1 and Pro V1x has a combined Unit Share of 74.5% and 72.9% over the last 12 months and 2008 year to date respectively; nine times more than their nearest rival.
Padraig Harrington’s victory in the last major tournament of the year, the USPGA Championship took Titleist’s worldwide wins for 2008 to 110. Aside from helping Harrington to become only the fourth player to win The Open Championship and PGA Championship in the same year, the Pro V1 was comprehensively the most played ball in all four majors this year, helping Titleist to top the ball count for a staggering 60th year in a row at the US Open and a remarkable 29 consecutive years at The Open Championship.
The record-breaking Pro V1 family provides a choice of two high performance golf balls. The legendary Titleist Pro V1 provides improved launch conditions for longer distance while maintaining superior Drop-and-Stop™ performance into and around the green, while the Tour favourite Pro V1x delivers longer distance via slightly lower spin off of the driver, as well as lower spin on full iron and wedge shots for improved greenside control for higher swingspeed players.
The consistent flow of victories week in, week out, provide ongoing proof that at the highest level the game’s elite choose Titleist above all others. The incredible success and wide scale usage on the worlds tours continues to be mirrored with the general public as Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x continue to be the overwhelming choice in the tour ball sector of the market.
