Press Release: Clean sweep for Titleist at the PGA Play-offs
CLEAN SWEEP FOR TITLEIST AT THE
PGA PLAY-OFFS
All 21 competitors tee it up with Titleist at Royal Liverpool in the end of season showdown
The entire field that contested the PGA Play-Offs had one thing in common when they teed it up in the opening round; they placed their trust in the superior performance of the legendary Titleist Pro V1 to negotiate Royal Liverpool’s tight fairways and challenging greens. A total of 21 players battled it out over two days (21st and 22nd October), with the field comprising the top three players from the PGA's seven regions.
Scotland's Chris Doak claimed the honour as the PGA's No. 1 player for 2008 after a comprehensive victory. The 30-year-old secured a six-shot winning margin, with Buchanan Castle's Jason McCreadie claiming second spot. The duo can now prepare to take on the might of the European Tour having secured starts in the BMW PGA Championship plus the Scottish, English, Welsh and European Opens next year. Yorkshire's Nick Ludwell (Selby) finished third to secure an invite to next year's Scottish Open at Loch Lomond.

Ken Graham, Director UK Sales and European Marketing, Titleist, said: “To have 100% of the field opt for Titleist balls in such an important tournament is testament to the performance and the quality of the golf balls we produce. It once again highlights that Titleist is the stand out choice amongst better players who, in the case of the golfers in the PGA Play-offs, are striving to compete on Tour against the best players in Europe.”
The record-breaking Pro V1 family provides the game’s elite with a choice of two high performance golf balls to suit their game. The Titleist Pro V1 provides improved launch conditions for longer distance while maintaining superior Drop-and-Stop™ performance into and around the green. The Tour validated Pro V1x delivers lower spin with the driver for longer distance off the tee, whilst a soft Urethane Elastomer™ cover provides higher spin with irons for workability and short game control.
Titleist’s strong following within this prestigious event mirrors that at the Club Professional Championship and the PGA Assistants’ Championship earlier this year, as well as the major worldwide Tours. Add to this the success at the US and British Amateur Championship, and the Boys Amateur Championship and it is clear that serious golfers, whether amateur or professional, prefer the superior performance of Titleist, the #1 ball in golf®.
