Press Release: Davis Love III claims his 20th Tour title

DAVIS LOVES NEW TITLEIST 909 DRIVER FOLLOWING LATEST TOUR WIN

Titleist ambassador Davis Love III captures his 20th Tour title following switch to new Titleist 909D3 driver

Titleist Ambassador Davis Love III became the latest player to win with a 909 driver in the bag, following a one-shot victory in the Children’s Miracle Network Classic presented by Wal-Mart; the final US PGA Tour event of the year. Love shot consecutive 8-under 64 rounds over the weekend to finish at 25-under 263 to secure his 20th career victory, earning him a lifetime exemption on the PGA Tour.

Aside from the 909D3 driver, Love trusted Titleist equipment from tee-to-green at Magnolia Golf Club including Pro V1x, 909F3 fairway metals, 680 irons, Vokey Design pitching and sand wedges, Vokey prototype lob wedge and Scotty Cameron Newport SS putter. Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Children's Miracle Network Classic with 81 players (63%), compared to 20 for the nearest competitor. Titleist was also the top choice in the iron sets (33), wedge (124) and putter (51) categories.

The result of extensive research at the Titleist Performance Institute and tour player feedback, the 909 series is the most comprehensive driver line-up in Titleist’s history. The new line-up features three different models packed with technological advancements. The 909 DComp, 909D2 and 909D3 are three drivers with modern, high performance, tour approved shapes each with a distinct, precisely positioned centre of gravity to provide optimised launch conditions and ball flight. The 909 drivers are now available to the European market.

Since being introduced on Tour back in June, a whole host of players have already switched to the 909 drivers, including Adam Scott, Rory McIlroy and Steve Stricker. Love is the fifth player to win with a 909 driver, adding to the victories achieved by Chez Reavie, Parker McLachlin and Zach Johnson in recent months on the US PGA Tour, all of whom carried the 909D2 in the bag, while Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano captured the prestigious Quinn Insurance British Masters back in September, the first time he played the 909D3 in competition.

Elsewhere, Ji-Yai Shin (Pro V1x) captured the Mizuno Classic for her second victory of the year on the LPGA Tour, while it was a Titleist 1-2-3 finish at the Celebrations NSW PGA Championship on the Australasian Tour as Tim Wood (Pro V1x) finished a shot clear of Michael Long (Pro V1x) and Peter Senior (Pro V1). TC Charamba (Pro V1x) and HoSung Choi (Pro V1) recorded victories on the South African and Korean Tours respectively. These victories have taken Titleist’s worldwide wins to 164 for 2008, over five times more than the nearest competitor.

A 20th Tour title for Titleist Ambassador Davis Love III with the new Titleist 909 driver, coupled with the constant flow of victories for Pro V1 players prove once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
