Press Release: Estanislao Goya claims maiden victory with Titleist

GOYA CLAIMS MAIDEN EUROPEAN TOUR TITLE WITH TITLEIST

Argentinian Rookie trusts Titleist from tee to green for a one shot victory in the Madeira Islands BPI Open

Titleist Ambassador Estanislao Goya claimed his maiden European Tour title in just his sixth start on the European Tour with a one-shot victory in the Madeira Islands Open BPI. The 20-year old Argentinian finished on 6-under par 278 for a one shot victory over fellow full line Titleist player Callum Macaulay. Goya has quickly found his feet on Europe’s biggest stage having gained his card by finishing 5th on the 2008 European Challenge Tour Order of Merit. Goya enjoyed multiple successes on the 2008 European Challenge Tour and also finished the year top of the Tour de las Americas Order of Merit. This form has continued into 2009 with Goya following in the footsteps of fellow Titleist stable-mate Rory McIlroy by claiming a maiden European Tour victory on the inaugural Race to Dubai.

Goya trusted Titleist from tee to green for his victory including the Pro V1x golf ball, 909 D2 driver, 909 F2 fairway, 909H hybrid, ZM forged irons, Vokey Design Spin Milled sand, approach and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron Newport Fastback putter.

Full-line Titleist player Callum Macaulay also trusted the performance and playability of Titleist to help him claim second place on 5-under par 279. This included a final round course record 64 which saw Macaulay complete a spectacular back-9 on Sunday in just 28 strokes. Macaulay’s equipment included the Pro V1x golf ball, 909 DComp driver, 909 F2 fairway, AP2 forged irons, Vokey Design approach, sand and lob wedges and Scotty Cameron Putter. Macaulay was joined at the top of the leaderboard by fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Damien McGrane (Pro V1) and Wil Besseling (Pro V1x) who shared third place, and Anthony Wall (Pro V1x) who finished solo fifth. As well as claiming each of the top-5 places at the event Titleist was also the most played golf ball at the Madeira Islands Open BPI with 106 players (74% of the field) compared to 19 for the nearest competitor.

Elsewhere, Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Transitions Championship on the US PGA Tour with 94 players (65% of the field) compared to 20 for the nearest competitor; at the MasterCard Classic on the LPGA Tour with 93 players (71% of the field) compared to 29 for the nearest competitor and also in the SAIL Open on the Asian Tour with 114 players (76% of the field), 100 more than the nearest competitor with 14. Titleist also led the way on the US PGA Tour in iron sets, wedges and putters as the world’s elite continue to opt for the performance and playability of Titleist.

As well as being the most played ball in the MasterCard Classic on the LPGA Tour, Titleist was also the choice of Pat Hurst who used the New 2009 Pro V1 to claim her sixth career LPGA title with a 4-round total of 10-under par 206. Victories for Hurst and Goya take the Titleist worldwide win count to 32 for the 2009 season, compared to just nine for the nearest competitor.

A maiden European Tour title for full-line Titleist player Estanislao Goya, as well as continued success on world tours for Pro V1 and Pro V1x loyalists, prove once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
