Press Release: Stricker trusts Titleist in dramatic play-off victory

STRICKER TRUSTS TITLEIST IN DRAMATIC PLAY-OFF VICTORY

Full line Titleist player Steve Stricker wins the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial on second play-off hole

Titleist Ambassador Steve Stricker birdied the second hole of a sudden-death three-way playoff to win the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Texas. Stricker was joined in the play-off by fellow Titleist full line player Steve Marino after finishing tied on 17-under 263 during regulation play.  Stricker fired an 8-iron to within a couple of feet of the hole at the 17th on the second play-off hole and duly converted the putt giving the American his fourth birdie in five attempts on the 17th at this year’s event and his fifth PGA Tour title. Stricker’s victory at the Crowne plaza Invitational was his first win of the 2009 PGA Tour season, following a collection of impressive finishes in 2009, including a second, third, fourth, sixth and seventh-place.

Titleist was the most played golf ball at the Crowne Plaza Invitational with 82 players, including the champion Stricker (Pro V1) and runner up Marino (Pro V1x), choosing the unrivalled performance of the Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x. This compares to 18 players for the nearest competitor.  In addition, victory for Stricker takes the world-wide win count for Titleist golf balls to 57 for the 2009 season, nearly four times more than its nearest competitor.

Once again Stricker trusted an array of Titleist products to claim his fifth PGA Tour title. In addition to teeing up with a Pro V1 golf ball his equipment included the 909 D3 Driver, 906 F2 fairway metal, 585.H hybrid, 755 irons, Vokey Design sand and lob wedges. The champion was not alone in placing his trust in Titleist clubs as Titleist was the most played irons, wedges and putters at the Colonial.

A further victory on the 2009 PGA Tour for a full line Titleist player, combined with the constant flow of worldwide victories for the Titleist Pro V1, prove once again, that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
