GAY CLAIMS WIRE-TO-WIRE VICTORY IN TITLEIST 1-2-3
Brian Gay claims the St. Jude Championship as five of the top six trust the superior performance of the new 2009 Titleist Pro V1 family
The new 2009 Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x were at the top of the leaderboard once again this week as Pro V1 loyalist Brian Gay claimed his third career victory by shooting a final round 4-under par, 66, in the USPGA Tour’s St. Jude Championship. Gay’s 18-under par total of 262 saw him claim victory by 5 strokes over full-line Titleist player Bryce Molder (Pro V1x) and fellow Titleist Pro V1 player David Toms
who tied for second on 13-under par 267. John Sendon (Pro V1) and Paul Goydos (Pro V1) also chose Titleist in Tennessee as they joined Gay at the top of the leaderboard as part of a three way tie for fourth place. In fact no fewer than 9 of the top 10 and ties placed their trust in the #1 ball in golf.
The Pro V1 and Pro V1x were not only prominent at the top of the leaderboard as Titleist was the most played golf ball at the St. Jude Championship with 105 players, five times the nearest competitor with 21. Titleist also topped the irons sets, wedges and putter categories respectively.
Elsewhere, Anna Nordqvist trusted the Titleist Pro V1 to claim her first professional title at the McDonald’s LPGA Championship. Nordqvist shot a final round 4-under par 68 to finish on 15-under par 273 and claim victory by four shots over fellow Titleist Pro V1 loyalist, Lindsay Wright at Bulle Rock Golf Club. Nordqvist’s victory was the third Major title of 2009 for the Pro V1 family following Angel Cabrera’s victory in the Masters and Brittany Lincicome’s victory in the LPGA Tour’s Kraft Nabisco Championship, maintaining Titleist’s 100% record in 2009 Major Championships. A further victory on the Canadian Tour for Mike Grob (Pro V1) saw Titleist’s 2009 worldwide win count to rise to 67, more than four times the nearest competitor with 15,
The constant flow of victories around the world for Pro V1 loyalists proves once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
