Press Release: Titleist #1 at U.S. Open for 61st consecutive year
TITLEIST #1 AT U.S. OPEN FOR 61ST CONSECUTIVE YEAR
Titleist the #1 ball at Bethpage Black as the world’s best continue to opt for the matchless performance of the legendary Pro V1 franchise
Titleist, the #1 ball in golf, was the most played golf ball at the 2009 U.S. Open held at the Black Course, Bethpage State Park, New York. The golf ball count from this year’s event continues one of the longest running streaks in golf as it marks the 61st consecutive year for Titleist as the #1 ball at the U.S Open. Golf ball counts began at the 1949 U.S. Open played at Medinah and since then more players have put their trust in the feel and control of a Titleist golf ball than all other brands combined.
At Bethpage Black, 89 players put their trust in the legendary Pro V1 or Pro V1x ball, accounting for 81% of the field, more than four times the nearest competitor. The strength in depth of Titleist products was also evident at this year’s second major as Titleist Vokey Design wedges and Scotty Cameron putters topped the wedge and putter counts respectively.

Elsewhere, Jason Enloe recorded a further title for the 2009 Pro V1 as he claimed victory at the Nationwide Tour’s Fort Smith Classic. Enloe carded a final round 5-under par 65, before defeating fellow Pro V1 loyalist Chris Tidland at the first extra hole of a sudden death play-off. The win was the second Nationwide Tour title for Enloe and took Titleist’s worldwide win count to 68, more than four times the nearest competitor with 16.
Another Major championship which sees Titleist as the stand out favourite among the world’s best players proves once again that the game’s elite continue to opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
