Press Release: Wiegele and Kirk trust Titleist for maiden victories

WIEGELE AND KIRK TRUST TITLEIST FOR MAIDEN VICTORIES

Titleist golf ball loyalist Martin Wiegele and Titleist Brand Ambassador Chris Kirk rely on Pro V1x to achieve career firsts

The unmatched golf ball performance story of Titleist continues across the worldwide professional tours, highlighted by the maiden European Tour victory of Martin Wiegele, who trusted the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball to capture the Saint-Omer Open in France.  Also achieving his maiden tour victory on the Nationwide Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Chris Kirk relied on the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball, as well as a full complement of Titleist golf clubs, to claim victory at the Fort Smith Classic in Arkansas.  First victories are often the most difficult to obtain and breakthrough performances require a golf ball worthy of trust.  The consistent performance and feel of the #1 ball in golf was trusted by Kirk and Wiegele, who becomes only the second Austrian to win on the European Tour.

Wiegele carded a final round 3-under par 68 to finish on 7-under par, 277 and claim his maiden European Tour title ahead of a leaderboard littered with Titleist golf ball loyalists. As well as being the choice of the champion, a host of players in contention over the weekend put their trust in the #1 ball in golf. Matt Haines (Pro V1x), Pelle Edberg (Pro V1x) and Robert Dinwiddie (Pro V1x) all put their trust in Titleist as they were among five players tied for second place. The precision and feel of the legendary Titleist Pro V1 franchise was also the overwhelming choice of the majority of the field in France. A staggering 113 players put their trust in Titleist, more than all other golf balls combined and more than six times the nearest competitor with 17.

In the US Open, the precision of Titleist golf balls were once again the choice of the majority of the field at Pebble Beach with 85 players, more than four times the nearest competitor, putting their trust in the legendary Pro V1 franchise. This marks the 62nd consecutive year that Titleist has been the #1 ball at the U.S. Open. France’s Gregory Havret trusted the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball to finish in sole second place in his first Major appearance. Havret staged a strong bid to top the leaderboard coming down the stretch, but narrowly missed a 15-foot birdie putt on the par-5 18th.  Titleist Brand Ambassador Davis Love III trusted Titleist throughout his bag to close with an even-par 71, finishing at 4-over 288, tie for sixth place and earn himself an invitation to the 2011 Masters.

On the Nationwide Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Chris Kirk trusted the Pro V1x as well as a full complement of Titleist equipment to fire a 6-under par 64 and claim the Fort Smith Classic by one stroke. The 25-year old American finished at 16-under par to earn his first career Nationwide Tour title and all but guarantee his berth on the 2011 PGA Tour. The victories for Kirk and Wiegele takes Titleist’s 2010 worldwide golf ball win count to 59, compared to 13 for the nearest competitor.

Two breakthrough victories for Titleist golf ball loyalists, coupled with a 62nd consecutive year as the #1 ball at the U.S. Open, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
