Press Release: Stunning Stricker trusts Titleist for record breaking victory
STUNNING STRICKER TRUSTS TITLEIST FOR RECORD BREAKING VICTORY
Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker claims the John Deere Classic with a tournament record 26-under par total
Titleist, the #1 ball in golf, was at the top of the leaderboard from start to finish at the John Deere Classic after a record breaking week for the legendary Pro V1. Following on from Pro V1 loyalist Paul Goydos becoming only the fourth player in PGA Tour history to shoot 59 on Thursday, Titleist Brand Ambassador Steve Stricker rose to the top of the leaderboard as he fired 31 birdies on his way to a ninth career PGA Tour victory. Stricker’s tournament total of 26-under par is a record for the John Deere Classic, and his birdie count of 31 ties him for second on the all time list for birdies made in a 72-hole tournament. Stricker finished ahead of an all Titleist Pro V1 top-3 as Jeff Maggert (Pro V1x) joined Stricker and Goydos at the top of the leaderboard, with a host of full line Titleist players also finishing well. Eight of the players finishing in the top twelve and ties trusted the feel and playability of Titleist equipment for their success.
Stricker, who rises to the World #4 with his second PGA Tour victory of the year, trusted a host of Titleist equipment including the Pro V1 golf ball, 909D3 driver, 906F fairway, 909H hybrid, new CB irons and Vokey Design Wedges. Also trusting the playability of Titleist clubs for their success in Illinois were Titleist Brand Ambassadors Matt Jones, Charley Hoffman, Brendon deJonge, Brett Quigley, Troy Matteson, Greg Chalmers and Tom Pernice all of whom finished in the top-12 and ties. As well as being the choice of the champion at the John Deere Classic, Titleist was also the choice of the majority of the field, with 108 players putting their trust in the #1 ball in golf, compared to 18 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the counts for irons, sand, lob and approach wedges, and putters.
Elsewhere, on the Nationwide Tour, Peter Tomasulo trusted the Pro V1x to fire a final round 10-under par 61 to claim the Ford Wayne Gretzky Classic by one shot. Tomasulo came from 8 shots behind going into the final round and is now well positioned to claim a PGA Tour card for the 2011 season, lying in ninth place on the Nationwide Money List. These victories take Titleist’s 2010 worldwide golf ball win count to 69 compared to 16 for the nearest competitor.
A record breaking PGA Tour victory for Steve Stricker ahead of a host of Titleist Brand Ambassadors continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
