Press Release: Lara takes Titleist past 100 victories for the season

LARA TAKES TITLEIST PAST 100 VICTORIES FOR THE SEASON

Jose Manuel Lara trusts the legendary Titleist Pro V1x to lead a four win weekend for the #1 Ball in Golf

Titleist, the #1 Ball in Golf, was trusted across worldwide professional tours this weekend, topping four leaderboards and passing the milestone 100 victory mark, yet again, for the 2010 season. The string of victories was led by Jose Manuel Lara who fired an 8-under par final round 64 to claim the Austrian Open for the second European Tour title of his career. The Spaniard was joined in the winners’ circle by Hunter Haas (Pro V1x) who won on the Nationwide Tour, Thaworn Wiratchant (Pro V1x) who claimed victory on the Asian Tour, and Jean Hugo (Pro V1x) who won on the South African Tour.

Lara secured victory at the Diamond Country Club in Austria with a par at the first extra hole, following a spectacular display in regulation play. Trusting the feel and control of his Pro V1x, Lara fired 10 birdies, including six on the back-9, to finish at 17-under par before emerging victorious at the first play-off hole. Also finishing strongly in Austria was Pro V1x loyalist Danny Willet, who fired a 65 on Saturday before finishing in a tie for third, three shots back. As well as being the choice of the champion in Austria, Titleist was also the most played golf ball, with 97 players, more than five times the nearest competitor with 19.

Elsewhere, on the Nationwide Tour, Hunter Haas trusted the Pro V1x to claim the Albertsons Boise Open. Haas closed with a final round 64 to post a 21-under par total and finish one stroke ahead of fellow Pro V1x loyalist Daniel Summerhays. On the Asian Tour, Pro V1x loyalist Thaworn Wiratchant was declared the winner of the 2010 Yeangder Tournament Players Championship after the event was reduced to 54 holes due to Typhoon Fanapi. Wiratchant’s 10-under par total gave him a one shot victory from Titleist Brand Ambassador Chinnarat Phadungsil (Pro V1x), and sees him enter the record books with a twelfth Asian Tour title. On the South African Tour, Jean Hugo topped an all-Titleist 1-2-3 at the Vodacom Origins of Business golf tournament. Titleist Brand Ambassador Hugo (Pro V1x) fired a final round 6-under par 66 to finish three shots clear of fellow Titleist Brand Ambassadors Shaun Morris (Pro V1x) and Oliver Bekker (Pro V1x), who finished second and third respectively. These victories take Titleist’s 2010 worldwide golf ball win count to 103, compared to 21 for the nearest competitor.

A second European Tour title for Jose Manuel Lara, coupled with the constant flow of victories across worldwide professional tours for Pro V1 loyalists, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist.
