Press Release: Five wins around the world bring up fantastic fifty for Titleist in 2011
TITLEIST ON TOP AROUND THE WORLD WITH FANTASTIC FIVE WIN WEEKEND
Titleist golf ball loyalists top leaderboards around the world to continue the legendary Pro V1’s winning tradition across worldwide professional tours in 2011
The outstanding feel and control of the Pro V1 franchise was highlighted by multiple wins across worldwide professional tours this weekend, with five Titleist golf ball loyalists claiming victories. South Africa’s Thomas Aiken delivered the third consecutive European Tour victory for Titleist golf ball players as he emerged victorious at the Open de España. Aiken was joined in the winners’ circle by four more players who placed their trust in the superior performance of the Pro V1 or Pro V1x including Tom Lehman (Pro V1), who won his third Champions Tour title in seven starts, and helped boost Titleist’s worldwide golf ball win count for 2011 to 47, more than all other brands combined.
Aiken topped fellow Pro V1x loyalist Anders Hansen by two shots following a final round 70 to claim his first European Tour title at 10-under par. Aiken follows fellow Titleist golf ball loyalists Lee Westwood (Pro V1x) and Matteo Manassero (Pro V1x) into the winners circle, and completes a trio of victories in the last three weeks for Titleist on the European Tour. Aiken was joined towards the top of the leaderboard by Titleist Brand Ambassador Pablo Larrazábal who finished tied third. As well as being the choice of a host of top finishers in Spain, Titleist was also the overwhelming golf ball of choice of the field with 100 players, five times the nearest competitor with 20.

On the Champions Tour, Tom Lehman defeated Peter Senior in an all-Titleist Pro V1 play-off to claim the Regions Tradition at the second extra hole. The victory marks the second Champions Tour major title for Lehman, following his victory at the 2010 Senior PGA Championship. The feel and control of the Titleist Pro V1 and Pro V1x made Titleist the overwhelming golf ball of choice at Shoal Creek, with 53 players, compared to 10 for the nearest competitor. Titleist also topped the count for iron sets.
Elsewhere, on the South African Tour, it was an all-Titleist golf ball top-5 as Justin Walters (New Pro V1x) claimed the Royal Swazi Sun Open ahead of four fellow Pro V1x loyalists. On the ONEASIA Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador KyungTae Kim (New Pro V1x) fired four consecutive rounds in the 60’s en route to claiming the GS Caltex Maekyung Open by a record-breaking eight shots. On the Canadian Tour, Titleist Brand Ambassador Jose de Jesus Rodriguez (New Pro V1x) claimed the Mexican PGA Championship after defeating fellow golf ball loyalist Roger Sloan (New Pro V1x) at the first extra hole. A sensational five-win weekend increases Titleist’s 2011 worldwide golf ball win count to 47, compared to 10 for the nearest competitor.
A first European Tour victory for Pro V1x loyalist Thomas Aiken, coupled with a second Champions Tour major for Tom Lehman and multiple wins around the world for Titleist golf ball loyalists, continues to prove that the world’s best players opt for the matchless performance of Titleist for their success.
