The iconic Claret Jug awaits this year's Champion Golfer!

The first day of the 141st Open Championship delivered thrills, spills and chills for the players seeking to get their hands on the famous Claret Jug come Sunday.

And it was Titleist ambassador Adam Scott who set the pace at Royal Lytham & St Annes, firing a -6 round of 64, equalling the course record in the process.

Scott was joined near the top of the leaderboard by Titleist ambassador Zach Johnson, as well as Pro V1x loyalists Nicolas Colsaerts and Paul Lawrie who all carded -5 rounds of 65.

But it didn't stop there for the #1 ball in golf, as Titleist ambassadors Rory McIlroy, Steve Stricker and Jbe Kruger plus Pro V1 or Pro V1x loyalists Bubba Watson, Anders Hansen, Jamie Donaldson, Thomas Aiken, Toshinori Muto and Justin Hicks all pressed their claims just a few shots back.

Titleist is the overwhelming ball of choice for players at the Open with 86 players, more than four times the nearest competitor with 19.

Whatever happens, it is sure to be compelling viewing over the weekend and a great showcase for golf.
