VIDEO: Tips from The Tour: Webb Simpson's Chipping Strategy
Posted: 27 August 2013
We’ve all been there. Just a few paces off the green and looking to chip it close so we can salvage a par. And while it sounds easy, we know all of the questions that start to run through our collective minds as we step up to the ball…
What shot should I play? What club do I pull? What is the right strategy to get the ball up and in?
Well, we checked in with the 2012 U.S. Open Champion and Titleist Brand Ambassador Webb Simpson for a little advice.
"What I see a lot of amateurs do wrong is they pull out a 60° wedge and they try to loft it, but we're not going to do that," Simpson explains. "The goal is to get the ball on the ground as quick and as short as possible, and let it roll out like a putt."
Take a look at the video above to hear the rest of what Webb has to say on how you can hit your chips closer and lower your scores.
