Hi Guys, I am a fairly good player, off a 5 handicap, and am looking at buying a Titlist 712u Utility iron. I am at times an inconsistent striker of a ball in terms of long irons though. Is this club still fairly forgiving or have you got to be on your game to hit it? Could someone who doesn't nail the long irons every time still use this club? Cheers Mike

Cheers Steve, I did get one a few weeks ago now and love it! If I'm swinging fairly well the club is faultless although on an off day it isn't the most forgiving club in my bag! But overall money well spent I'd say, would very much like a 2 iron now!

Hi Michael. Saw your post and that it had no replies so I thought you might be interested in this review of the 712U as I went to a Titleist fitting centre and tested one out with some interesting results. I am a 1 handicapper and it was not right for me not because of the club, but more because of the yardage and performance gaps it would leave in my bag. I would recommend going for a fitting before making up your mind as a hybrid might be the answer instead. Best wishes, Martin

Cheers Martin, I was slightly concerned about the gapping before I got mine although it actually fits my bag very well. Lovely club for those stingers under the wind as well, more so than my hybrid which would balloon! I can see the benefits of both the 712 U and my hybrid although performance wise and if I am swinging well, the utility iron would be my first choice. Cheers for advice as well!

As the current U is a 712 model does anyone know if there is a 714 / 715U in the pipeline?
