  1. Hi all I know this topic has been spoken about time and time again but I was hoping for some specific advice on wedge fitting

    I currently play 716 ap1's 4-w +w2 (52*) and 56/60 sm6 wedges.

I'm looking at buying a wedge to fill the gap between my 43* pitching wedge and my 52 degree. I would prefer an sm6 as I prefer the flight and control I get with my other 2

First I'm torn between a 46 or a 48 to plug the 9* gap. Or do I bend one to 47?

Then I'm wondering about the lie angle and shaft model/ length. I'm really looking at getting this club for full shots. My irons at 2* upright and it seems the general idea is not to have the wedges' lie angle to match the set. As I am looking to play a full shot with this club would I be better off having it 2 degree upright with matching shaft (stiff dynalite gold xp)

Many thanks for your help! :)

I believe years ago that the standard loft for a pitch was 48 :-). Having a 9* gap is going to be a problem. Does sm6 not offer one in this range? Also, and this is only my personal preference, I play my 47, 52 and 57 at the same length, but progressively heaveier swing weights, which really helps me be much more consistent in my short game.

The ideal solution for you is to get fit from a Certified Titleist Fitter as they can get the numbers and put the right club in your hands.

    I don't understand how you have this large gap if you say you have 4-W + W2. On the AP1 specs page, you have P @ 43*, W @ 47*, and W2 @ 52*.

I have the gap wedge (W) to the same set which is a 47* and it a great club. One of my favorite clubs. It seems you already have the gap club you need. With all those irons, a putter and a driver, that only leaves room for one more club. Do you carry a fairway or a hybrid. (14 club rule).
  6. Sorry I meant P. I haven't got w1. Thanks all for your input!

Something else to consider between the 46 and 48 is the bounce angle. If you bend the 46 1° weaker to 47 you will increase the bounce 1° & if you bend the 48 1° stronger you will decrease bounce.

I did something very similar to what your talking about when I got fit for my irons. My iron setup stops at 9 and I got a 46° SM5 bent to 47° as my PW with the shaft to match my irons cut 0.25" shorter than my 9. Also, all my wedges have been bent 2° upright to match my irons and I have loved the results. I've noticed the 2° upright has helped the most on full shots.

    Good luck!
