I sent my vokeys out 2 years ago to get stamped, painted, and re gripped. I love the grip but they wore out very quick. Looking for a tacky grip that'll last. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  2. Josh,
For me on my wedges I use the Golf Pride MCCP. To me the last and allows for a good feel for my wedges either 100 yards out or a chip shot.

grip selection can differ from everyone. i recommend going into your local shop and see what they have to try out. i got mine from Vokey with the new Golf Pride MCC +4 grips and love them. been playing them since they came out. also have them on all my other clubs in the bag, great feel and feedback.

I just tried the Super Stroke S-Tech grip and it's probably one of the best grips I've used in a long time. It's pretty tacky for not being a "tacky" grip and it's almost half the price of most Golf Pride grips (which I have been using for years). So I've replaced all my clubs with the S-Tech.

I use the same grips as I have on the rest of my set. Golf Pride MCC +4. Want the same feel on every club.

I use the Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips on my wedges. I appreciate the soft feeling in my hands and that is what I want with my wedges as these shots tend to be the most "feel" oriented shots that one plays. I change these grips once a year as I use these clubs so much in practice and in normal play throughout the year! I also wipe the grips clean on a regular basis.

I do love my Golf Pride MCC's for the rest of my irons though!
  7. I also recommend the Golf pride MCC+4, however on my wedges I ask for 3 extra wraps on the tape. This gives me a little wider grip. At least for me it helps with control and feel around the greens. Plus a little wider grip allows me to better handle the clubs. Good Luck!

Ditto on the Golf Pride MCC+4 grips. I have them on all my clubs a and was excited to see they offered them in Green! Good Luck!
  9. Two year old wedges arent worth putting a new grip on. Unless you play once a year and at that point you could put duct tape on and it wouldnt matter
  10. I use Golf Pride tour wrap on all my clubs. ( White would you beleive ) Nice and tackey, and clean to new with a soft brushs and some soapy water. Of course they do come in Black.
  11. I would say that 2 year old wedges can be worth re-gripping. Most wedges will last, as long as your not on the range or chipping area hitting a lot of balls. If you just hit the range before each round and then just use them during the round they will last a while. Plus re-gripping is a very minimal cost.

I have a 4-5 year old wedge, face is worn but I replace the grip on occasion.
  12. Golf Pride Tour Wrap 2G, firm and tacky and if you take care of them they will last a long time. I usually regrip my driver and SW every 4 years, the rest can last twice that long or more and I never even use a glove. But admittedly I am in the minority on these grips, most people are going MCC these days
  13. I use the Golf Pride Tour Wrap on all of my clubs so as to keep a consistent feel. I like these because they seem to last forever. I don't know how much you play or practice but I play once a week and hit the range once a week also. As for the tackiness, if mine get a bit slick I just pour a little water on them and rub a little and then wipe off with a towel. They get sticky right away. I like that because if a club gets slick while on the course, I can just use some of my water and I'm back in the game. Hope this helps.

Hi Josh, I'd recommend applying tar to the shaft then wrapping a 40 grade sandpaper around which will be sure to give you year-round grip.. you may need some hand cleaning gel to remove the tar after each shot though. Only kidding..

I use Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 (standard on 718 range) which provides great feel and good grip in summer/winter. I have yet to try it in very wet conditions but the Golf Pride MMC I use on my driver is grippy when wet, any grip with a cord will absorb moisture and prevent the club slipping.

Also worth considering is the Tour Velvet Super Tack and Z Grip both from Golf Pride.

Joshua, to your point about your grips wearing out too quickly, I'm not surprised. Other than putter and driver, what clubs in your bag do you use more? I'm guessing, none. Wedges not only get plenty of use during the course of a round, but they also get (or should get) a lot more use during practice sessions, particularly when you realize that short game is key to low scores.

All that being said, I use GP MCC New Decade Midsize White/Black and have been doing so for years on all my wedges and irons. I play and/or practice nearly everyday, so they wear out quicker than you might expect, but just about any "feel" type grip would wear out under that much usage. So, I replace my wedge grips about three times a year. I typically replace my actual Vokey wedges themselves, every year or so.

FWIW, I also scrub my grips every couple-three weeks with a brush, water and Dawn to remove the deep set dirt and oils that have accumulated from my hands. They always feel better after a cleaning, but nothing beats new grips.

It seems to me from your many posts that you play a fair amount of golf, Joshua, so isn't it time to be thinking about a new set of SM8s? Sounds like you've had your present set for quite awhile. You can order them with whatever grip you want. I know I will be ordering mine, with my favorite grips, the very first day they are available. My SM7s are toast now.

Way from left field but I like the golf pride CP2 grips. I don’t use gloves when I play and this grip provides enough grip for the club not to slip out and I get enough feedback if I’m gripping to tight since the grip is “cushioned”

I’ve been thinking about trying the alignment grips they have too
