    Hey Folks,

I have a quick questions for the fellow TT"ers out there while we eagerly anticipate the arrival of the 2015 seasons. I am currently playing 712 AP's w/DGS300's and I am looking at switching into the 714 AP1's which have the XP95S300 as the equivalent. Does anyone know the differences between the shafts and how similar they are?

    Thanks

I have the XP95 s300 Shafts in my 714 AP2s and like the lightweight shafts.  They create a nice high flight for me.  When you go to get fitted for your new irons, try both shafts and see the results.  Best advice I can offer.

    Hi Alex,

The XP95 is a lightweight steel shaft around 95 grams, it has a high

ball flight and moderate ball spin while the S300 is a heavier steel

shaft around 130 grams with a much more penetrating lower ball

flight with a medium ball spin. Most people I fit seem to get a little

more distance with the XP95's just due to the lighter weight which

equals higher swing speeds which means higher ball speeds

producing greater distance. Not considerable more distance but

some. Best bet is to try both shafts and compare numbers, ball

flight, A of D, etc. Hope this helps.

I Currently use the S300. And when I used the XP95 the when I hit the ball I feel more of impact and feel through the shaft then the S300. Now in performance I'm not sure because they were a friends club. The ball went the same distance. I didn't like the feel of it and never tried it again. So for me I like the S300. Cheers Steve H

    Hi Alex,

The main difference is the overall weight.  XP 95 can encourage a higher launch angle, but that's not always the case.

Both DG and XP 95 are extremely popular fitting results at the National Fitting Centre.

There is also an XP 105, if you are a little concerned with 95 being too light.  Both are no-upcharge options as well.

    I hope this helps!

    Chris

Thanks guys. I didn't realize there was such a big weight difference. Sounds like a fitting is needed for sure.

Hmm - I didnt know about the xp105. Apart from weight, which would be a closer fit to the dg s300?
