Hi everyone! Well, I managed to get out and play 18 yesterday! It turned out to be a balmy 10-11* C yesterday, so when dressed accordingly, the weather was very comfortable.

This past weekend, I purchased a dozen of the new 2017 Pro V1x balls -- and decided to put a sleeve into play yesterday. I also mixed it up a little with the Pro V1 as well for some "on course" comparisons. Course conditions were pretty good given the snow that we had last week - fairways were dry and the greens were deceptively quick!

I must say that I was so impressed with the new Pro V1x ball -- I just loved the spin that could be generated on the ball for my shots into the green. I had one shot in particular, it was a par 4 hole with a 90* dogleg right, around a large pond to a small, elevated green. My tee shot left me with approximately 92 yards to the pin, but with a slight downhill lie.

This shot has plagued me in the past at times as I struggle to consistently strike the ball cleanly with this type of lie and with a very lofted club in my hands. Well, I did manage to strike the ball fairly clean, with good tempo and the ball sailed over the pond, hit the green and one hop-stopped dead to the pin for an easy 3 foot birdie putt.

All I can say is that I really like the control that the new Pro V1x offers around the greens and with shots coming into the green! All in all, the ball performed wonderfully and I felt pretty good with the round yesterday. Even though we are out of the active season for GHIN purposes I did keep score and while I did not play my best I did manage to shoot 81 with 4x3-putts and two penalty strokes (lateral hazards).

For this time of the year and the lack of playing time, I ran off the course like a thief that stole something!!! :-) hahaha. Regardless of score, it was just an excellent day - getting outside for a good long walk, enjoying the fresh air, and of course some golf with just enough good shots along the way to keep me "stoked" for next time!

Dino thanks for the review, I can only dream of golfing in Calgary at this time of year.

Dino were you a Prov1X usually? Did it fly higher than before? Or similar to last version?
    Thanks,

Lucky you!! Courses in Ontario won't open until End March if we are lucky, but probably not until April sometime.

Dino - So great to hear you got out and played well. It sounds like the new ProV1x was certainly doing it's job. One question for you - How did it compare to your earlier versions of the ProV1x ? Where did you see the biggest difference ? Was it in flight, distance, spin, control ?
Note: We are enjoying a really nice day here today, but there is still quite a bit of snow around. This was taken out my front door on Tuesday !

Hi guys! Thanks for the comments! I must say that I am glad that I got the round in -- its due to snow again this weekend! :-). Hopefully, it won't last too long though!

James G. -- The past couple of seasons I have been playing the Pro V1x ball so that was my motivation for buying a dozen. Regarding the new ball, the ball flight was consistent and very similar to the previous generation. It's one of the things that I have liked about the Pro V1x. The feel of the ball was better too - it felt softer on the club face and through impact (when I struck the ball properly!)

Darius - thanks for the kind words! As for the new ball, it seems to perform similarly to the previous generation of the Pro V1x but with some incremental improvements. I did have a little bit of distance gains with some tee shots, but whether it was the ball, a better swing or a combination of both I am not sure.

Yet, there is one major exception that I noticed - the spin that I was able to put on the ball for shots into the green. I can not say enough about how well it was able to generate spin on and around the greens. The example I gave in my original post is the best example of the round where the spin and control was exceptional.

Cover - I should also add that I really like the new cover on the ball ... for some reason that perhaps only Titleist knows, I was able to grip it better with the short irons and wedges. It also stood up better than the previous generations ... I have put three rounds on the one Pro V1x ball ... and the cover is still "clean", white and not too faded at all.

Like all of you, I am looking forward to the start of golf season and I look forward top the Loyalty Program offer too! A great chance to stock up for the season!

40 - Days to the start of MASTERS WEEK! 43 - Days to the Start of the MASTERS TOURNAMENT! :-)

Glad to hear you were happy with the results. I am lucky enough to be putting some into play in two weeks when I head down to Palm Springs. I will be trying both the ProV1 and 1x while down there.
Like Todd, we are a few weeks away in Calgary before we can think about golfing on grass. Simulators and frozen ranges are all we have until April.
