    G'day again TT,

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the photos from the Quicken loans national of the new 716 line.

I think these do look like nice irons throughout but as an AP2 user I don't think that i'll change for looks alone as current 714's in my bag are stunning.

Drop a line and let me know your thoughts, upgrading or not?

    Cheers,

    Timmsy

I am waiting to hear about their performance.  Pretty is as pretty does.  I saw the pictures also and they do look very nice.

I like the 716 AP2.  Not so sure about the AP1.  I need to see them in person... I'm hoping they just don't photograph well.

Whats the Dif between the AP1 714 and 716? Im currently playing 712's with Aerotec shafts. Is the upgrade worth the money for a 10 handicapper?
  7. Good morning,

I personally didn't care for the "Tungsten"(sp?) stamp on the lower lofted AP2 irons. However, as long as they didn't mess up the performance that's really what I care about. The 714 AP2's perform perfectly well for me (I haven't bought them yet but I've used them at demo days). As long as the 716's do at least as well I could easily see myself putting a new set of AP2's in the bag.

Saw the pics and like it so far...  Looking forward to checking these out in the fall (my guess as to when they'll be released)..

Currently have the 714 AP1s and love them..  This will be interesting...

Can you or some of the other TT members tell me where or how I can get a look at the new 716's. Really like to see them, but then again, maybe it's better for my bank acc. if I don't see them.

I play all Titleist clubs, AP2 714s 915s, and Vokey wedges. I have waiting for a long time and was very excited to see the new irons but I did not care much for the new look of the AP2 716s. Disappointing. They also seem to have a wider sole. I love my 714's, the way they look, feel, and play. Instead of pre-ordering now I am going to wait and hit these first to see if there is a performance increase or how the looks bother me. I would like to know why Titleist felt the need to change the look so much and stamp the ugly "Tungsten" on them. My clubs and irons are wearing after two years of heavy play and practice. If there is no major difference I may pick up a new set of 714s before they are gone and and wait to see what the 718s have to bring or maybe it is just time to jump ship. We always tell Titleist, ''Just don't screw them up!" I hope that's not what they have done with the 716s

    Not Happy,

    Richard

I'm not a fan of either the AP2 or the AP1's appearance. I can only hope Titleist do something before their release date. I like the new 716 MB's, I thought they looked great as a traditional iron should, but the new 716 CB's are not as pretty. The lower lofted clubs seem to have an addition notice of 'TUNGSTEN' stamped on those clubs. Don't like that idea a bit. I'm scared... : (

  14. I have seen the new 716 line they look great but I recently replaced 712 ap1 with 714 and they are solid I wonder if there would be a big difference between 714 and 716

Got an email today from TT saying that we will be notified as updates are available.  These are prototypes at the Quicken loans.  I would assume they will be awaiting to hear back from the tour players.  Just a hunch.  :-)

The new 716 iron line looks solid and I will be following comments from the forum on their performance, but, what really catches my interest are the new 916H line! I have two 910H  (21* and 24*) that are getting a little tired and may be due for replacement, if I can allow that to happen.  I have hit just about every similar hybo out there and nothing has come close to knocking the 910H's out of the bag, they are just that good for my swing!

However, the 916H line do have  my eye wandering.....

The new 716 AP2's look great and I am looking forward to putting them in my bag this fall. Hopefully my 714 AP2's will hear this and work extra hard over the next few months to keep this from happening! Seriously though, great looking sticks and I look forward to hitting them.

the AP1 seems to have gotten a nice facelift, but still looks like it has a fat top line on the irons. The AP2 - not sure about the stamping of Tungsten on several irons, but not others. couldn't tell much on the top line. Now that they are "released", I'd love to hear some reviews to see if it is worth waiting until November or just getting fit now. Kind of a shame that they weren't released a week or two earlier as I'm headed near a regional fitting center (Sleepy Hollow), but won't have time to stop to get fit. Might have to stop in and meet Kevin, though. Already committed to golfing with some friends before a conference. Steve

My initial reaction was that they seemed too busy, and unTitleist like. But now that I have looked at them on a larger screen than a smart phone they are actually kind of growing on me. As long as they keep the "Tungsten" and "Forged" text as a laser etching rather than a deep stamp or engraving, I can see myself using those in the future. (It's easier to sand off...) Also, I would prefer that the toe section on the short irons of the AP2's had the same brushed satin finish even if they do not have the tungsten weighting, just to keep the lines consistent through the set.

I just picked up the 714 CBs and prefer the full satin finish over chrome, so it will be a while before I even consider switching. That, and I love the smooth curvature of the concave muscle pad. The way the light reflects off creates a beautiful gradient.

Hi All! I for one am really excited about the new 716 line!!! After looking a little closer at the photos from all the entries on Golfwrks I can conclude this... It is going to be great to see the specs and details of the 716 line as they come out over the next few months. The AP1 and AP2 look awesome! The CB's look like they got a redesign with tungsten weighting. The MB's got a little more "M" in back and look very cool. Then lastly is the new T-MB clubs. A little research tells me the USGA has a listing for all these clubs and all have a left hand listing! (I play left handed) The T-Mb has been in Japan market for some time and my assumption is that the plan is to market here in the states.. They are the one's I am most curious about. Now for the disclaimer: All this is purely my opinion and conjecture. That said, this is going to be a LOT of fun because come mid-November I will have one of these sets in my bag. So far the AP2 and T-Mb's are the front runners. Thank you Titleist for continuing to put out the best equipment on the planet! Don T.

I like my AP2's and can't see myself replacing them at this time.  the photos of the 716's are merely pictures, so it is hard to truly tell how they look, but I candidly like the look of the 714 AP2's better.

716 CBs look nice. It looks like the finish has gone closer to chrome vs satin but not too shiny. Not a huge fan of the "tungsten" stamps on the clubs. I'd love to see the clubs with 1 or 2 stampings maximum. Keep the clubs with a clean, traditional look please!

I, too, much prefer the look of the 714 AP2 over the 716 version.  I'm VERY satisfied with my 714's and this makes my decision NOT to make a change all that much easier ;)

the 716 T-MB looks awesome and I really like the AP2's and CB's. if I had to choose today I would probably get the T-MB's but wouldn't know for sure without hitting them. I currently play with the 712 AP2's and had the 712 MB's which I sold because I was hitting the AP2's so well they never made it in the bag. they all look great as usual though

I own the AP2 714, and I can't imagine what Titleist possibly could have done to improve it. From the pics, the 716s actually look a little chunkier than the 714. I'm not a fan of the word 'TUNGSTEN' engraved on the club, I think it's a little tacky. Who knows, maybe they'll be better. One thing I must say is I wish they made forged AP1s in America. I know Titleist makes AP1 forged in Korea I believe, but not in the US. I was hoping the 716 line of AP1s would be forged. Owned 712 AP1s for two seasons, and they are great clubs that really improved my game. I love the black sole on the 716 MB. Great looks. All around, I'm pretty impressed, but I'm going to stick with my 714 AP2s for some time.

I was actually quite surprised to see that Titleist didn't incorporate the slot technology into their irons. This is really surprising since they have it in their woods and hybrids. Also, the rumor of a model between the AP1 & AP2 seems to have been just that - a rumor

Hi guys, I am from Malaysia and 2 weeks ago had just received my set of 716 T-MB irons which I ordered from Japan. Previously I was using the 714 MB irons. The 716 T-MB irons are so much easier to play compared to the 714 MB's and the looks of my new irons are really beautiful! To all you Titleist aficionados out there, I would highly recommend the 716 T-MB.

Does anyone know if there will be a 2 iron in the 716 ap2 line up?

  33. greg p

My guess is no.  I had to go to the 712u driving iron to satisfy my 2 iron wants.

Seems like the 2 iron has gone the way of the 1 iron....and it probably wont be long before the 3 iron follows them.

I would love to see Titleist produce the set without all the tungsten script & bar. The set would look much cleaner if they maintained the cavity back look of 8-P. Sometimes less is more, I'm sure I will be looking at them regardless when the demo's are released!

Hi all! I own the 714 AP2's and when I look at them compared to the new 716's, the 714's look way more appealing (aesthetically of course). I am not a big fan of the new look. There may be some marginal improvement in performance and that will have to wait until they are generally released to they public for testing, review, etc. However, based purely on appearance, I much prefer the 714's. The 716 AP1's did not photograph very well so I will reserve making a rash comment. The 716 MB's that are in Jimmy Walker's bag looks fantastic. It will be quite a few more years before I look to upgrade my irons ... these are serving me wonderfully! D
  36. I do not care what my iron looks like as long as it has great performance!  I am going to need to visit Oceanside TPI this fall to figure out if I should stay in AP2's or another model!

I have been planning to upgrade my TM to AP1's this year.  Fear I will have new club fever if I don't at least have the chance to see some level of review on the 716's before I go through the fitting process.  My club pro is heading to Oceanside in late August for a fitting.  Hopefully I will get more information on the 716's performance.  From the early pictures, the AP1's seem to have a larger sole than I may prefer.  But if this improves performance, I'll pull the trigger.

Recommend that during your fitting you check out all the Titleist clubs and shaft combinations, if the larger sole is a concern.

I have been waiting for over 2 years for the 716 AP2's. I have the 712 and have been very patient in not upgrading and I am a little disappointed in the appearance in the pictures. Will need to see them in person obviously but I really love the feel of the 714's. I might actually save some money if I find some discounted 714's instead of new 716's.

I think I would check out their performance before making a decision.  I have 714 AP2s and they are great clubs, but there are more to the clubs than the heads.  Right shafts, grips and "it's all about the fit".
