Hi TT - Does anyone have any experience with putter fittings?  I've been fit for all of my other clubs, but in thinking about it, the putter is used the most in any given round.  If you've been fit, was there a noticeable improvement in putting stats?  There are so many other factors when putting, I'm curious if anyone has seen the fitting translate into lower scores.  Thanks!

Anyone who goes for a fitting has positive results and there is a good reason.  Same principle as buying tailor made clothes, which always fit, look great, and wear better, because they are tailored to you and only you.  You might pay a little extra, but you know the old saying, "you get what you pay for".........and me, I prefer something that fits........Cheers, Chuck.....

Getting fitted is a great idea; but in the end you have to be standing over a club that you have confidence with; if not I don't believe that you get the results you are looking for.

    Best of luck ... Greg

Thanks guys - definitely makes sense.  Any recommendations on where to be fit in the Boston area and if they can adjust my current SC Sonoma putter?

you could check with the crew at Manchester Lane Steve
  6. I don't know the Boston area, but a few years ago I had a Hot Stix fitting in Scottsdale, and they wouldn't  bend any Scotty Cameron putters. They would adjust lie and loft of all other putters, but not Scottys.

In my humble opinion, there is only one place to get fit.  Scotty Cameron's name is on the instrument.  Why wouldn't you get fit by the man who designed it?  It's a no brainer to me.  I went to Scotty's Gallery and was fit by master fitter, Spencer.  Spencer has worked closely and has trained with Scotty for years.  For two hours, every aspect of my putter was examined in minute detail.  9 cameras.  A state of the art putting studio.  2 straight hours of constant feedback.  This technology is available today.  If anyone thinks they can examine themselves, why go to doctors?  Doctors even go to doctors.  The Cameron staff is the best in the business bringing Scotty's 30 years of experience to what was only available to professionals until last year.  Take advantage of this unbelievable opportunity.  And while I'm on the soapbox and thumping the tub, the same goes true for the tour fitting at Oceanside.  I was just fit for 716 irons, 915 metals and SM5 Vokeys.  The experience is something you'll treasure forever.  On top of all this, the feeling and knowledge that you have been custom fit by the best in the world gives you confidence you will never achieve on your own.  It's never about price.  It's about you.  You're worth it.  Good luck.  Vern Urich (@VernU_TT)

Hey Vern - thanks so much for sharing the great experience and advice!  I've had similar experiences at Manchester Lane where I was fitted for everything but the putter.  Now I just need a reason to find myself in California to get over to Cameron!  I've always been a decent putter, but to everyone's point, why not get it tailored to my stroke to try to go even lower.

Just one more thing I wanted to add.  After my tour fitting at TPI, I stopped by the Cameron Gallery in Encinitas.  I just wanted to say hello to Spencer who fitted me and check out the goodies in the gallery.  Spencer knew exactly who I was after over a year and quickly pulled up my stats.  He asked how I was doing and how my putting was going then said, "Lets roll some."  Spencer did some adjusting to the tips he gave me at my fitting and readjusted me then brought my putter up to the proper specs, cut it down an inch, put on a new grip, cleaned it up and wished me well.  Wow!  What customer service.  I didn't ask, he offered.  That's why getting fit by the best is the best thing you can do for yourself and your game.  Thanks Spencer, Scotty, Robert and David at TPI and the entire #TeamTitleist Staff.  Also, when I arrived at TPI for my fitting, I was greeted with class and style as if I was a real tour pro, having my own name on my locker and on the TPI marquee.  Robert made me feel and home and comfortable.  We hit and laughed and analyzed and hit and laughed some more.  Over 4 straight hours of personalized service.  I've played the 714 AP2 irons for the last year.  They were great.  The 716 line is even better.  The 915 driver and fairway are beyond belief.  Monsters just waiting to get out of the bag.  The 816 hybrid is sweet, pure and true.  And the Vokey wedges, need I say more.  SM5's are the best there has ever been.  Do yourself a favor and do an entire 14 club fitting. Take advantage while you can.  Enjoy!  Vern Urich (VernU_TT)

Great story Vern, thanks for sharing with us all. I have had a similar experience at the Oceanside facility, if anybody can swing it I certainly would. I have been to the Scotty Gallery and it, as well as the Studio, are amazing to say the least. I will certainly give it a run the next time I get a new Scotty. When I put my current putter in the bag the Scotty Cameron Studio was not available, so I went to a local fitter who works with a lot of touring pros to get fit. Similar deal where he has multiple cameras that take all sorts of slow motion pictures of your putting stroke. To see the backspin on the ball before I was fit to seeing the ball come off the face with zero skid after I was fit I was truly impressed. It's amazing what the cameras can see that our eyes cannot. The putter is the club used for more strokes than any other but it is often the most overlooked when fitting a club. be sure to let us know if you ended up getting fit and how it all worked out in the end.

I'm headed to Manchester Lane in 2 weeks for a full-bag fitting (not putter, though). Getting excited about it, but also a bit anxious. I've taken a lesson and one more before I leave, been hitting the range and playing quite a bit to get ready for the fitting. Steve
