I finally pulled the trigger and scheduled my Oceanside fitting!  As I am on the East coast and will be planning a little trip around it, I was hoping that some of those who have already done the fitting might be able to help me with a few things.  I am planning on flying in on a Thursday and doing my fitting on Friday morning (9:00).  I will be heading to Vegas afterward, and will be chomping at the bit to get there!  My question is how long does the full bag fitting actually take? I know it is scheduled through 12:00, but I have read where people have taken longer.  So I'm wondering if that's the norm or just a few rare instances.  I'm trying to maximize my schedule and would like to get a flight to Vegas as early as I can.  I obviously do not want to be stressed out or have to cut my fitting short to catch a plane, but I also do not want to sit in an airport for hours waiting to get to Vegas!  Also, would anyone know what the traffic would be like on a Friday Afternoon to the San Diego airport?  Google says it's under an hour, but has anyone actually made this run afterwards and have an actual time?  I know it's best to plan on the safe side (which I probably will do) and error on the side of sitting in the airport for a bit, but with over two months to wait, I will have waited long enough!

as a fellow East Coaster, my first question would be why Oceanside over Manchester Lane in Mass? anyway, my suggestion would be to not rush the fitting and allow plenty of time to get to the airport. You certainly don't want to be stressed during the fitting!!!!! Besides, I'm sure that you can always try to catch an earlier flight once you finish at Oceanside. Plus, the casinos will still be there waiting for you to arrive!!!!! anyway, I can't offer any suggestions on traffic in San Diego, but I would be interested in hearing your review. I'm headed to Manchester Lane golf at TPC Boston on the 28th followed by my fitting on the 29th!!!! I also managed to work a little extra into my trip, too. Good Luck and enjoy the experience!!!! Steve,

I went with Oceanside for several reasons.

    1. I had a free weekend stay package in Vegas I needed to use by the end of the year.
    2. Manchester gets booked up faster and is tougher to get scheduled.
    3. I didn't want to schedule anything prior to the 716s being available
    4. Weather later in the year on the east coast becomes an issue(as you know) so I didn't want to be hitting in the cold.
    5. I could also get the wife to buy in on it if I threw in a little trip!
Enjoy the tournament and the fitting, Please post how it goes for you.
  4. Hi John,

I think you would be safe with either of those departure times. As a person that has traveled quite a bit I always found it safer to book the later time, and check for availability on the earlier flight on the day of travel. After all, if you find yourself running a little early there are lots of things to do in downtown San Diego.

  5. Hi John,

Full fittings traditionally take about three hours, so you should expect to finish around 12:00 with 12:30 being the absolute latest. There are also quite a few great fast casual restaurants and delis near our Oceanside facility, so you should be able to grab a quick bite before your flight out. That said, if you are already scheduled for an early afternoon departure please make your fitter aware of your time constraints and they will be able to accommodate accordingly.

Traffic is Southern California is often times unpredictable, but you should have little to no issue making it from the test center to SAN is less than 90 minutes--typically it is about an hour with normal traffic.

We look forward to seeing you out here, and should you need anything else let us know.

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Chris,

Thanks for the information.  I currently have myself booked on a 5:50 flight, but there is also a 4:30 option.  Based on what you are telling me, I could expect to be to the airport by no later than 2:30 (assuming nothing unforeseen happens).  Does that seem reasonable?  Or should I stick the 5:50 flight?  Granted, I am totally overthinking this due to the anticipation of the trip, but i will regret it (as will my wife!) if I have to spend 3 hours at the airport waiting!

    Thanks again.

Anyone who has gone here for this fitting have any suggestions on a place to eat the night before?

4:30 flt shld be fine esp. if you aren't checking bags. There will be traffic but you are allowing for plenty of time barring a truly unusual traffic event. Enjoy -- I did Oceanside in 2013 and it was great.

Yes, there is a center on Manchester Lane in Acushnet, MA. I'm headed there in 3 weeks for my fitting! Steve
