Was it just me or were the greens in the World Golf Championship in Mexico playing slow for the players? It seemed many putts came up short and the ones that went in looked like they hammered it. Must be hard to adjust to, especially for those working on getting ready for Augusta in the near future.

Poa annua greens have a tendency to change speeds during the day because they have a fast grow in. Greens in the afternoon play will be slower than in the morning rounds.

What TV doesn't show is the slope of the greens. Some of those greens had significant slopes to them. Players were hitting the ball 20 ft past the pin and spinning back to the hole, using the slope. Some putts looked really slow, the uphill putts. Some putts looked really fast, the downhill putts.

I was watching yesterday and I saw several putts where the commentator said this putt will be very fast. DJ just tapped it and the ball did make it, took a while but it made it all the way. Looked like a very fast green to me.
