Langer Ties Record with 8th Major Victory on PGA TOUR Champions

Titleist golf ball loyalist Bernhard Langer (Pro V1) cruised to his second straight Regions Tradition victory, firing a final round 8-under-par 64 to tie the PGA TOUR Champions record of eight career major titles.

Langer erased a six-stroke deficit over the weekend and entered the final round two shots behind the leader.

His 64 was the lowest round of the tournament.

Langer who won last year’s Regions Tradition by six shots, finished at 20-under-par 268, five shots clear of Titleist golf ball loyalists Scott McCarron (Pro V1) and Scott Parel (Pro V1x), who was in the field as an alternate and earned the biggest payday of his career.

This marks the first time that Langer has won a major after coming from behind on the final day. And with this win, his second of the season, he now has 31 PGA TOUR Champions titles.

Langer's next chance to chase a ninth senior major is only days away, as he'll compete at this week's KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va. The Senior PGA is the only senior major that the 59-year-old Langer has yet to win, giving him a chance to also become the first player to win all five current majors.

“It is the one that has eluded me, for whatever reason,” Langer said. “I’ll give it my best shot.”

Congratulations and good luck next week, Bernhard!

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

Titleist was the overwhelming golf ball choice at the Regions Tradition with 64 players in the field of 79 trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success. That’s more than nine times the nearest competitor with 7 and more than all competitors combined.

Langer’s win marks the 6th for Titleist players through the first eight events on the 2017 PGA TOUR Champions.
