The Winning Setup: Matt Jones at the Australian Open

"To have my name on this trophy, it's a dream come true for me,” said Titleist Brand Ambassador Matt Jones (Pro V1x) after capturing his first Australian major championship at the 100th Australian Open.

Jones edged fellow Australian Adam Scott and defending champion Jordan Spieth, as Titleist Brand Ambassadors occupied the top three positions on the leaderboard.

Jones, who posted an 8-under-par 276 victory total at his home course, The Australian Golf Club, finished one shot clear of the runners-up.

Scott, who trailed Jones by nine shots to start the day, rallied with a closing 6-under-par 65, while Spieth posted a final round even-par 71, just missing an eagle putt on the final hole to force a playoff.

“I’m sure I can take confidence out of going head to head and coming out on top with those two (Scott and Spieth),” Jones said. “It's something I can use down the road. I'm just happy to come out on top."

Jones and Titleist golf ball loyalist Nick Cullen (Pro V1x), who finished tied for fifth, qualified for next year's Open Championship with their performances, as they were among the three highest finishers who were not already exempt for Royal Troon.

THE COUNTS: Titleist was the overwhelming most relied upon golf ball in the field of 156 with 130 players. That’s nearly twelve times the nearest competitor with 11.

Titleist was also the top choice in fairway metals, hybrids, utility irons and iron sets. Vokey Design Wedges topped the approach, sand and lob wedge category and Scotty Cameron putters tied for first in putters.

Congratulations on a memorable victory, Matt!
