  1. I'm a right handed player, I'm getting a shooting pain on the outside of my left elbow right at impact. It doesn't hurt a lot, but it's enough to bother me. It doesn't get any worse throughout the round, the pain is consistent.

This has never happened to me before, does anyone have any experience with this, or any tips on how they have beaten it?

Golfer's elbow...best advice is to talk with your doctor and get started with treatment before it gets any worse.

Something like that happened to me. Happened when I hit a ball and hit the ground too hard. I ignored it and went to the driving range and it became worse. I saw a Doctor and he told me I have "tennis elbow." Upon his recommendation I iced the elbow several times a day and took Moultrin. About six weeks later I was much better and I have no pain at all. So I say, see your Doctor!

Tendonitis. Probably from coming off winter, if you haven't been swinging a lot. Very common. Don't let it get worse. Ice it 3 or 4 times a day, rest it a week or two (if possible), use elbow brace for support. It can nag you all season if you don't care for it now.
  5. Thanks for the advice, I'll start an ice regimen.

After the visit to the MD and when you are over the injury it may be time to see your PGA Professional. This injury is common when a player has a tendency to have a bit of a "chicken wing" in the left arm at impact. It places undue stress on the elbow. If you were a tennis player and were diagnosed with tennis elbow your tennis pro would tell you that your elbow is bent when you hit your backhand.

Just an FYI that tennis elbow is not really in your elbow. It's more of a forearm/elbow, and the tendons on top, whereas golfer's elbow is underneath. So, if you feel the pain in the tendons, then it's one of those. If you feel it in the joint, it's not. I've had both and they both suck, but easy to fix with a Theraband Flexbar.

I agree with the above that any elbow issue could be from impact or from coming off winter. Also agree to check your follow through to be sure you are minimizing the impact from an improper position at impact.

Completely agree with B.A. Had tennis elbow last season and it sucked. Subconsciously changed my swing and no longer compress the ball. Elbow is good now with Theraband flexbar exercises daily, just need to get the swing back in shape.
  9. This is an easy one, you have to quit leaning on your elbow at the 19th hole.
  10. Last year i experienced the sam kind of pain in my elbow. I was told golfers elbow by my trainer. After I talked to an MD (works with swedens national cross country skiing team). She told me it was Tennis elbow, the diffrence is:
Pain underside of elbow = Golfers elbow
Top side of elbow = Tennis elbow.

Anyhow, threatment is the same. Massage alot. preferebly with knuckles on area with pain. Stretch and strengthen your lower arm muscle with different exercices (youtube). I got a armband with a pad that pressed down just below the area in pain. It was really good and helped alot. It took a few weeks but im afraid it will come back. She told me to really take care of it because untreated you can get permanent issues. And don´t play to much golf! my MD told me; ok once or twice a week but definetly not more untill the pain goes away.

I really hope you get rid of your pain! I know how it feels and it hurt´s like...

Get better soon, sry for bad spelling..

    Best regards from Sweden!

  11. Hi Viktor

I read through the comments, on the right track with much of the advice-

    Ice
TPI Screen by a professional- particular shoulders- can be a release issue
    Graphite shafts can lessen vibration
Omit shots from mats if possible

I just started playing after 9 months off because of both tennis elbow and golfers elbow in my right arm. Go see your doctor, get PT and stop playing. I now wear a brace when I play and I'm easing back into it. Ignoring the pain will only make it worse. Trust me.
