  1. Hello TT family, I hope that each of you are well today. I just wanted to share some excitement with you!

As I have mentioned before, I am pursuing an all Titleist bag, as well as an exclusively Acushnet kit (FJ Apparel). This will take some time, and I am enjoying the process and results. When I first entered this group, I wrote a post about the parallels between golf and any other discipline we might pursue in life. I mentioned striving to perfect things. This attempt to "perfect", is why I decided to choose Titleist as the brand I would be loyal to moving forward in golf. The clubs I have purchased since this decision, have been nothing less than impressive.

Two weeks ago, I ordered my very first Scotty Cameron. I am writing because I know that this was a big event for most of you as well! I also know that many of you have collected Scotty's over the years, so I wanted to include you in my jumping off point. My club pro called earlier this morning to tell me it had just arrived (exactly 14 days from ordering). My wife picked me up from my office for lunch and we went over to the course to have lunch and pick up the Scotty.

I just opened it in my office, and I can't over emphasize how great it feels. Every single detail of the club is immaculate. I cannot wait to take it to the practice green this evening. I went with the Newport 3 because of the traditional mid mallet design, and because it is heel shafted (I tend to have a fair amount of toe flow through puts). It's traditional design aligns with my appreciation for the long history of the Titleist brand, but this club is incredibly modern feeling. My previous putter (O Rossie), is going to a very dark closet for a very long time (after some side by side testing).

I have been familiarizing myself with options from the Custom Shop. After I have gotten good use from its stock condition, I look forward to taking this club to the next level, some time before summer (as the final step of my complete bag plan). Here are a couple pictures of the happy moment this thing came out of the box! Thank you all for allowing me to share a great moment. Have a nice day my friends!

Neat story Sam! I am sure that you will enjoy the results with your Scotty. I have used a Scotty for a number of years ( Just like the name)! Your are right Titleist clubs and FJ apparel are second to none. Enjoy the new toys.

Great decision to get yourself your Scotty, an investment you will never regret.
My wife bought me mine as my wedding gift from her as there wasn't anything else I wanted at the time and I plan to keep my baby for ever. I have the Studio Select Newport from 2010 and managed to purchase the Lady Luck Las Vegas head cover for that year as we went there for the first part of our honeymoon.
It's my favourite thing in the bag which like you, I'm in the process of converting to all titleist.
Wish you all the best with your new addition!!

  9. Thank you all very very much! I spent a couple hours on the practice green yesterday and I am so satisfied with the decision. I noticed with the heel shaft I have a better sense of club head orientation through the swing, which makes me feel more in control. I am a feel putter. I like to be able to manipulate the shot, even after I initiate the swing. This putter is perfect for my approach. I knew there was a reason so many folks are passionate about SC. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Sam, congrats. Bring it with you next time you are in Charleston and we can try it out. We all share that excitement when we get our first Scotty. A big decision and investment. Glad to have you on the FJ side also. A great addition. Take care Pal.

The only thing you'll be sorry for is nothing feels like a Scotty. You can never go back. In small part I switched to a RH Scotty because nothing not Scotty felt good in LH versions. Happy birdie hunting.
  14. Don,
Thank you very much! I hope your NC trip went very well. After a few puts with the Scotty, I cant imagine I will be looking for a long time. Hoping to create a great return on investment!

    Chuck,
You have a deal! I am sure I will be in the low country before too long. It was certainly a big investment for me, but after a good practice session I feel like it was a good move! Happy to have found the FJ community and looking forward to learning more on that side.

Thank you all very much! Convincing my wife that I needed such an expensive putter was a huge victory in itself. haha

    Funny story:
I brought the Scotty to the office today, but forgot my sleeve on the kitchen counter. When I got to work one of our accounts had sent me a sleeve of NXT's. That never happened with my previous putter! I think it is lucky. haha

What convinced me and to then use on my wife that a Scotty investment was worthwhile is - unlike a driver, a putter can be used for a lifetime and only a ball gets used more than a putter. I threw in I expect it to last longer than my first marriage but not my second. Not everyone can use that...

    Don,
That is too good! haha. Great negotiation indeed.

  18. Thanks Kathy! I sure hope so!
