Green speed and the right ball

  1. The courses I play normally run at a slower green speed, around a 9 or 10. What ball performs better at these speeds, Pro V1 or Pro V1x?

You really don't what the speed of the green to determine the ball you use. Select the ball based on the feel you prefer, not just with the putter but with the rest of the clubs in the bag.

Start with chips and wedge shots to the green and work back to the tee box. Try a few different balls and see which one gives you the best results.

If money is no object, either the ProV1 or ProV1x will provide the best overall performance.

I'm not sure anyone can give you a definite answer to your question...my suggestion is get a sleeve of each and go hit putts with both to see which you like best.

For me, its not so much which ball but sticking to the same ball. Every time i have switched, it takes me a while to dial in the distance control on putts. Try to find one you like and stick with it.
  5. I agree with Dale on this. The more you use the same ball, the more familiar you will be with what stroke it needs for a given green condition. However, a ball that feels more clicky might provide more of an audible reference for swing speed and distance traveled (providing your mental data process a more clear reference point). For me, softer models tend to feel more similar between longer and shorter putts. However, stopping power from outside 120 is more significant to me than sharper audible putt reference. I develop most of my golf theory as a means of making good excuses when I do not play well. When theory fails to convince, allergies are my go to excuse... If your putt distance is off, maybe it is your allergies and not the ball? Good luck H!

I don't think there is much difference between balls when you're putting. There is no compression on the ball. Its really all about the sound and feel and completely subjective. Try a few and pick one.

    I agree with Dale V.

No matter what level of ball you play, keep it the same ball. By doing this you eliminate the performance variable of different balls during your round.
