Put my order in for my new 718 AP2/AP3 combo. I'll be going with the AP3 for 4/5 and AP2 for 6-PW. I was fit for these during a Club Champion fitting. I have a 3*gap between the 4/5/6 and a 4* gap 6-PW. I'll have to have them rebuilt with the True Temper Dynamic Gold 120 Tour Issue S400 shafts once I get them. Titleist doesn't have these as an option unfortunately.

I'm moving on from the png S55 irons and C-Taper Lite shafts, which I've had for 4+ years now. Looking forward to the extra forgiveness of the AP3 and the feel and consistency of the AP2.

I don't change my clubs all that often as my previous irons I had for about 10 years. But this year I'm treating myself and redoing my bag a bit. I've got the G400 driver at the end of last year and I've picked up the G400 Crossover as well, which I hit much more consistently than the cally 815 hybrid I had previously. Also had my putter adjusted for lie and loft at Club Champion and it's made a world of difference. No more skipping the first 5 ft of the putt. Rolls much more smooth and quicker. Feels like a whole new putter! Exciting stuff.

Should be a FUN year of golf! :-)

  2. Good Luck!

You are going to really enjoy the combo set. I did something similar when the 718's first came out and never looked back.

I'm hoping so! I'm really excited that these could be what helps get me to scratch this year :-)
  6. I'm going to a titleist fitting on March 13th. This is the combo I think might suit me but I won't know until I go obviously.

I've certainly been happy with them in my fitting and then trying them a few times afterwards. Really surprised how easy the AP3 is to hit.
  8. I’m due to be fitted for a combo set of AP2 and AP3 irons. The concern is the gapping, as the AP3 has a stronger loft. It is likely I’m going to have to make the 2’s stronger and devloft the 3’s. Anybody got any thoughts?!

Your bag set up sounds great; please keep us posted on your quest to get to scratch this year. I am really interested in hearing about the 718 AP3/AP2 combo and what you think about them during the year.

I purchased a set of AP3's this winter and love the distance and forgiveness on the long and middle irons. The feel and feedback on the shorter irons is a little lacking and I think before I sell my old set of AP2's which are sitting in the garage awaiting E-Bay, I may try a combo set of the two. Great idea!!!!

What made you choose the AP3 rather than the TMB?

How was your experience with club champion fitting?

JKelly- I did just that on the recommendation of my Ttileist fitter. Made the 7-W AP2's 2 deg stronger, and the the 4-6 AP3's 1 degree weaker. This way there is an even gap between both. Have played 6 rounds with them and have fit numerous times at the range, extremely happy with the set up.
  14. I kept my 4 and 5 hybrids from my previous set and went with AP3s 6 iron to PW. Club head speed increased by 2 mph. Really easy to hit.
  15. I just received this same set up (AP3 4 & 5 iron, AP2 6-PW) and can't wait to get them on the course. The AP3 4 iron is 22* standard and I had the 5 iron bent a degree weak to 26*. This one simple adjustment gives me 4* throughout my entire bag (50,54,58 vokey setup) so it seemed the easiest and most logical way to deal with the loft disparities. I do worry slightly about a possible yardage gap issue between the AP3 5 iron and AP2 6 iron just because of the technology jump, but I'm super excited nonetheless.
