Favorite Titleist Muscle Back Iron

Rick V., Team Titleist Staff Team Titleist Staff

Hey, everyone.

It's time for another quick poll and this week we're talking Titleist MB irons.

There's just something about muscle backs. In my opinion, there's no prettier club than a Titleist forged, muscle back, 7 or 8-iron and no sweeter feel when you strike one solid.  My favorite model is still my old set of 690s that I played in the early 2000's. Even the bag chatter sounded pure when I walked the fairways with those irons.

How about all you other blade players out there in the community? Was there one particular Titleist MB model that said "players iron" to you? Vote for your favorite and share your reasons in the Comments section below.

Thanks!

Rick

I still have my set Rick. 690's were the sweetest feeling irons ever. They were my first set of custom built and fitted clubs. 3-PW

Before that I had Titleist Tour Model blades 1-SW. The knife was unforgiving.

Tim, the Tour Models were great, too! The two rows of little diamond-shaped indentations to frame the face? Classics. I still have mine and bring them out on the odd occasion when we'll play persimmons and balatas.

712MB for me. Wasn't the flashiest but the soft feel and especially the way they cut through the turf was nice!!!

I still play 710s and am on my 5th set. Whenever I find a set that is in great condition I buy them.

660 and 712, love the look of the satin finish and the performance of the 712. Still have a set of each.

I have a set of forged muscle back irons from 1980, but I took off the old aluminum shafts that they had back then and put some new True Temper S300 shafts in these. These are some of the sweetest feeling, easy to shape shot type irons I have ever played.

I have played the tour model blades for about 7 years so those would be the best for me. They were purchased used and I did have the lie adjusted for my specs.Although they have a smaller face the ability to work the ball is there with these clubs and will say I do like the look of some other models but have noticed the finish on these have held up much better than some of the newer models

    695MB I loved those irons!

Glad to see the 690.mb getting love. Thought there were gonna be tons of votes for the 681 (by people who never played it)
690 was a special year imo and one of the truly specials leading edges/grinds from titleist. I owned full sets of both cb and mb, and feel the mb hasnt been surpassed though the cb, as great as it was, has been eclipsed several times.
690 was a more user friendly mb design (long blade length, basically a mp-33...another timeless classic)

I had a set of 680 and also a custom set of 681's which were great. Then you had the groove change and they were non conforming which was sad.

    712MB...... without a doubt!

Loved my 695MBs. Felt like butter and workability was amazing. Mishits were forgiving. Kept them as my Florida set when I go visit my Mom. Rocking some AP2 714 now and love them.

I have had these clubs since they first came out. I have not been able to find a club to gives me a significant difference in distance and feel that it’s better than these irons.

I’ve had the 714’s in my bag since they were released, and there is no better feeling than puring these beauties.
