  1. in my bag currently:

    917D 10.5* 915F 15* 816 H1 19* 816 H1 23* 716 AP1 5-W

PW is 43* GW that comes with the iron set is 47*

Looking of add SM7 52*, 56* and 60* but that brings me to 15 clubs with the putter.

I guess I could just putt with my 3 hybrid?! :)

I see two possibilities with your current setup. The first is to take out a hybrid and then adjust the loft of the remaining one to get to around 20 or 21 degrees. Or the other is to only get two specialty wedges. A 52 and a 58. I think on average most people who play regularly carry 3 or 4 wedges rather than 5.

drop your 5 iron would be my suggestion. or play a 56 degree bent 1 degree weak or a 58 degree bent 1 degree strong.

you will have your 6 iron which would be 28 degrees and your hybrid at 23 degrees, if you needed to you could have your 6 iron bent 1 degree strong if needed as well.

  4. Hi
Drop the GW at 47* and go with sm7 48*, 52* and 58*
It works for me with sm6.
    Or
Check out the Vokey site for other ideas.

I have an almost identical setup (718 AP1s - my W is 48*) and the club I do without is the 60* wedge. I just use my 56* wedge instead. Works for me.

There is not one right answer from us. The fairways and hybrids are adjustable. The 52/56/60 is the "traditional" wedge setup for when the PW was 48 degrees. If all your clubs from 6I to FW have 10-15 yard gapping, then you'd need to look at the W, 54, and 60, or work with a fitter for another option. If you look at the pro bags, they rarely have 48/52/56/60 (or 62) for wedges. Usually a PW and 2 more wedges. Or they may have 1 FW, 1 Hybrid, and start at a 4I and PW + 3 wedges. Wherever you need the most help. I use 3 wedges (48/54), but swap between a 57 K and 60 S grind based on fluffy sand or mud flats for bunkers.

That is as personal as what underwear you like to wear.
What I would say, carry the clubs that best fit your game, with that I mean, use what give you the best bang for your buck
I change mine according to the course, for example, if I am playing a shorter course, where even the par 5s are short, I ditch the Driver and get an extra wedge on the bag.
    My regular bag.
    Driver
    3 Wood
    5 Wood
4i to PW (total 7 clubs)
my PW is a standard 44 degrees
for the rest of the wedges
    SM 4 48 degrees
an old but trusty Vokey Oil Can 52 degrees
    SM 5 56 degrees
    and the putter
If the course is short I ditch the driver and add a 60-degree wedge.
Since I cant hit hybrids I skip those altogether.
It is not at all the answer you are looking for, but again, your club selection is very personal.
I need to go hit the SM7s and see if this is the year I replace my "trusty rustys"

Do you really need both a 24* 5 iron and a 23* hybrid?

On longer courses, I tend to drop the most lofted club, and on shorted courses, one of the hybrids stays home.

I would drop the 60 and use the 56 or go with a 58.

And those are some crazy lofts!!!!!

The real question is do you need the clubs on the long game or the short game side. You could loose a hybrid and adjust loft fo soften the gap. Or loose a wedge and go 48-53-58. That would keep the gaps even.

You have a lot of options and what looks to be a great set. My AP2's are 1 degree strong so my wedge set looks like this PW-45, GW-50, SW-54 (bent to 55) and LB-60. I would drop your AP1 W and go 48, 54 (bend to 53) and 58 which will do anything that the 56 and or 60 will do. But if you're set on a 5 wedges then I would go with Joshua's suggestion and drop your 5 iron which is 25 degrees and you can adjust the loft of your 23 Hybrid up to 24 or 25 and your 19 Hybrid to 20 or 21. Whichever you choose to do good luck and play well.

My setup is the same as yours except for the wedges. I don't have a 60 degree. Next time I need wedges im dropping the 52 and 56 to go with a 54 and 60.

52, 58 would be best combo to split the differences.

I have a very similar set up: 917D - 11.25, 816h1- 16*, 816h1- 19*, 913H- 23.25*, 5-W52, 56.10* NO 60*....... so I would recommend getting rid of the 60*....... I am a senior at 71 and play the senior tees and have absolutely no need for it..... play to distances......
  17. This was my first post here and I have to say, I am very impressed with the amount of thoughtful replies, so thanks to all that responded.

I agree, no one can tell me what my own preferences are, even when it comes to underwear (I'm a boxer-brief guy, Hanes if you want to get specific :)

I do like the idea of just adjusting what I put in the bag according to the course. Yes, sometimes I like the 5i over the 4h for specific shots. And it does seem odd to carry 5 wedges, but I have never had a 43* PW before. Has to be the lowest anyone makes them, no?

And I love a 56* wedge, can't live without it. If I could only use three clubs it would be a driver, 7i and a 56* (I hate putting, maybe if I did it less I would like it more).

I actually found a local club that hosts Titleist Thursdays starting next month so I booked an appointment for a wedge fitting. Going to explore bending the PW and GW to get down to 4 wedges. I think I have a decent idea about what grind and bounce to get on a 56* for an effective lob shot, according to my swing, but we'll see what the experts say.

Thanks again everyone, definitely going to become an active user on this forum. Especially since the NE just got 2 ft of snow on top of last week's Nor'Easter and all the courses will be closed for another month...

    I carry driver, 17* 3w, 21* H1 set to 20*, 5 (24*)- PW (43*) 718 AP1s, 48, 52, 56 SM6s, and a 60* PM grind. I get more out of the wedges than another low lofted club
  19. I have a similar setup. 716 AP1’s 5-PW + 47* and 52* AP1’s. I ended up going with an SM5 in 58*.
  20. I would base it on the course. If it's short I would most likely use more wedges. Maybe there are a couple part 3s that are a good stock 5 iron for you and you want to drop a gap wedge. I would play around with it and see what works for you. In my 25+ years of playing I have always found more short clubs to be more effective. Like others have said above, tweak your hybrids to cover the gaps and either lose one or you 5i.
