  1. I played with these clubs for about 25 years (late 80's to early 2010's). Does anyone know if Titleist has a comparable club on the market? They were the best set of clubs I've had (for my game).

They progressed into the AP1 models. Suggest you lean towards the AP1. Ideally, get a fitting at a Titleist Thursday event so you get the right head/shaft combo the best fit your swing. Good luck.

Hi Greg, that's a blast form the past! you've reminded me of my first set of Titleist irons which were DCI Black.
Time to move onto the 21st Century and get yourself along to a Titleist Thursday fitting session, the club fitter will find the best irons and shafts to suit your game.
  4. I had these!!! Fond memories!! I would suggest you'd get similar results from AP1 as offset and launch would be similar. To get the right feeling is all about shaft so you'd need to go to a dealer and try a few.

I've played the 714 AP1s for 4 seasons now and can't recommend them highly enough!
  5. Holy cow, you still have your DTR's?! They were my second set of clubs when I was in my early 20's(I am 52 now) and a hugh difference from my Hogan Apex blades. I loved those clubs. The next game improvement iron was DCIs I believe. I would recommend that you get fitted by a Titleist rep and more than likely you will end up with the AP1s. In my opinion, they are the natural progression.

Greg, I would say that the new AP3's might be comparable. Give them a try, I'm sure you'll be pleased.

I played DTRs for many years and loved them. My best guess is the closest match in today’s irons are the AP1’s. Take that for what it’s worth. Good luck.
