I have played the AP2's 712 irons with the Dynalite Gold S300 Stiff shaft for the past 2 years.  I am looking to upgrade to the new AP2's 714 model since I really loved the 712 model.

I hit the new 714 irons on the range  with the KBS Tour Stiff shaft based on the Titleist Reps advise and they did fell really sweet! (Softer Feel ) then  the Dynalite Gold S300 shaft that I hade in my 712 model, with a better penatrating  flight . The Titleist Rep said the KBS Tour shaft was a better shaft for the AP2's.

Can you please give me any advise to help make my shaft selection any easier?    ( 9-12 Handicap.)

    Thanks,  Bob

When I went from the 710s to the 714s I switched from S300s to KBS Tour Shafts, and I love them.  I had always played Dynamic Golds until that point but I got much better numbers on Trackman and you could see the difference in ball flight.  Go with what feels the best and gives you the best numbers.  Thats why you always go into fittings wtih an open mind becuase what you think might be totally off, or just with technology things perform better together as your fitter said.

I recently made the switch to the 714 AP2's and after multiple fittings the KBS tour was the best fit for me. Hard to argue with the fitters and the results. Don't overthink it and enjoy them!

I have the KBS tour shafts in my AP2 710 irons. I love them. I believe they have more weight in the grip end counterbalancing the heads. I don't think you can go wrong with the KBS shafts. I bet the difference you feel between Your 710 and the 714 is more the shafts than the heads.

Just had to make the same decision you are facing. In the end I went with the KBS shaft for my new AP2's I enjoy a softer feel and the KBS shaft provided that. No matter what anyone says go with the set-up that you can't wait to feel everytime you swing.

I've played all the AP2's since they came out.  I kept returning to my original set because they felt so much smoother.  I finally realized it was the KBS C-Taper shafts.  I had Project X in the 710 and DG S300 in my 712's.  When I got my 714's the KBS C-Tapers were an easy choice.  The Titleist fitters are the best around, you can trust what they tell you.

    Good Luck and Play Well,

    -Chris

I use the KBS Tour C-Taper S in my 714 AP2. I changed from the Project X 6.0. I like my previous shaft, but the feel on the C-Taper is B-U-T-T-E-R compared to anything else I've played and I love them on my AP2s.

Can anyone give me a ballpark what the additional cost is to upgrade from the Dynamic Gold to the KBS?

I think it might be $7 each. KBS has a higher balance point than the DG S300 shafts so when ordering your new set make sure to request the swingweight & specs you want.
