Absolutely without a doubt! Definitely go through a proper fitting with a well versed fitter.

Yes, get fitted. I went through it a month ago at a Titleist location in Florida. Here is my advice:

    1. Train. You’re going to hit 200 balls in 3 hours. Unless you’re used to that (I wasn’t), you can be gassed by the end of the session. The Florida heat during the summer didn’t help either. For that matter bring a drink(s) and snack if you want.

    2. The fitter will gauge your current clubs versus the new ones so bring your current clubs along.

    3. The fitter will already be writing up a summary of your new club profile but spend the time to talk through it at the end. Ask questions. And have answers before you walk out the door.

    4. Have fun. It’s a cool experience.

Mad Golfer has it right. "If it fits, it hits." Bottom line.

I played very little between 1977 and 2006 and didn't play at all between 2000-2006. I used to carry 3-4 woods, 2-PW (X31) and a "Dual Wedge" that I had since 1972. I even carried a 1 iron before and hit it 260.

Even used clubs or your current set need to be properly set up. Plus every golfer has a nuance or two.

Set makeup is part of the fitting process. Not everyone uses 10.5-15-19 for driver and fairways, 3-PW, 52-56-60 for wedges. As one can see in my thumbnail, my bag is geared to my short game. 58 and 64 have been in my bag since 2006. I've discovered a 7 wood about that time too. My middle lineup has been 5H-6H since then with the highest number iron being a 7.
