Ok that didn't work, so I have moved over to Team Titleist Facebook to post pictures! Sadly, in addition to not being a proficient poster here, I am also not a Facebooker, so no idea how to do that stuff. I'm the blind leading the ignorant!

Thanks very much for providing those details on that ball! It certainly appears to be falling apart from the inside. Still wish I could post pictures, especially for this next challenge. I will post them when I can.

I have found a 2021 Titleist Pro V1x with a swell looking Gold and Green 'VP' logo with a swoosh. Or, maybe it is an 'AP' ?? Mum suggests it is a custom Audemars Piguet Logo. However, when searching for Titleist Audemars Piguet logo's, no such thing shows up on the internet. The only Audemars Piguet logo's I have found on Titleist balls are plain black text. Maybe some one here knows what this is?

It was not originally smaller but being out of round due to the "bulge" where the rubber windings have broken, pushed the cover to stretch out, along with overall deterioration of the windings will cause it to shrink. The old balata covers would cut open easily but the urethane cover stays in tack while the inter windings fail. It was actually harder to notice a problem without looking very closely to know when to take it out of play.

I'm a 'retriever' and I found one of these today. I never had seen one so I looked it up and landed here. The ball is smaller than normal for some reason, so small that it falls right thru my ball retriever. It also has a sizable bulge in one area. I don't know what happened to this little guy since he was first wacked on a course. I wish it could talk!

I don't see how to post a pic, I guess I need an external sight to host it but I don't have one. Anyway, thanks for providing a place for posts like these!

Ha, that was an awesome ball! Back in those days, you could hit Pinnacle, Top Flight, Top Flight Plus to name a few, but nothing compared to the Professional 90!

I remember playing the Titleist Professional. Great golf ball, lots of feel. That said, I liked the 100 compression version;same ball just a little firmer,and a slightly different sound coming off the club.

Just found a Professional 90 in perfect shape today as I walked near Heartwell Golf Course (the first place that TGR outscored Earl)

Thanx for the memories....The 90 was a great ball around the greens. Could make it dance almost any direction. Just scuffed quite easily. But, the other memories off the course were of my son ripping them apart after discarded and playing with the innards. Wish I'd gotten images on paper and not just in my mind.

Hey, Kelly.

Just wanted to share an image from an old Titleist print ad we came across. The Professional was a game-changer when it was first introduced in 1994. It featured the same liquid-center, wound construction found in the premium Titleist Tour Balata model that we manufactured at the time, but its cast urethane cover was a revolutionary breakthrough.

The Professional’s patented Elastomer cover still provided the same feel and greenside control that players desired, but it was substantially more durable. The Professional also had a more penetrating flight that made it longer off the tee for most players.

The success of the Professional paved the way for the introduction of the first Titleist Pro V1 golf ball in 2000. The Pro V1 advanced the urethane cover technology first seen in the Professional and it also differed from Professional by featuring a solid core. This new construction resulted in a ball that launched high but spun less off the tee for significantly greater distance, yet still maintained the feel and scoring spin needed for precision in the short game.

Fun to look back, Kelly. The Professional really was a great ball and pioneered the way for the performance we’re enjoying in today’s Pro V1 and Pro V1x.

Exactly. I first played this ball at Raspberry Falls in Virginia and can still remember how well this ball performed. Yes, Pro V1 is an improvement but this ball was excellent.

I loved playing with a Balata ball when I was a kid. It was like hitting a marshmallow, but I just loved the feel and the soft feel meant that as a kid, I would be reminded to put a good, firm stroke on the ball to make sure that I got it to the hole! Of course, as you mention John, they were very easy to cut ... on thin shot and you had the "Balata smile" looking up at you along with the matching "bruise"!

I do remember the tour 90. The new Prov1s are incredibly soft, so definitely go give those a try. The feel may not be identical but I think you'll find even better performance.

I loved balata around the greens, not so much when hitting a driver because I have a slow swing speed. I also remember that they cut very easily, rarely lasting more than one round. My introduction to Titleist was as a college student when I first started playing-the Titleist DT, 19 bucks a box. Ah good times. :)

I have a dozen of these brand new in the box, series 1-4 from 1996, price tag still on the box and each ball is signed by S. Cink, pretty sweet.

I have my one and only Hole In One with a Titleist Professional 90 that sits on the shelf looking out at me everyday. For sure will never forget that ball. It was silky wasn't it.

I loved this ball. This was the first ball that I felt "made a difference" when I hit it. I have to say the Pro V1 is a huge improvement overall, but the short game with the Professional 90 was unreal!

I still think that was the best feeling ball that I have ever played. I really wish they were still around. Now that I am older I have started using the provx for the distance. They do feel pretty good but nothing like the prof90. My wife got me a dozen of the prov's on accident. I am going to try and use these again. Hopefully they will be close. I have heard people say they are the same with a harder cover. Well, that's what I liked about them is the soft cover. Anyway, sorry for babbling on your discussion...

The Professional was a great ball. But, if I remember correctly, you could really put a nice scuff or cut in one of those. The ProV1s have much better cover.
