Hi there

likewise, i just cannot get on with a glove. never have, not without trying.

Over here in the UK with the winter we have just had i have been so so please with going old school and finding a set of Golf Pride Tour Velvet Cord BCT Ribbed. been amazing in the wettest of conditions.

Could not find them in midsize, but they take build up very well, i have 3 layers of double sided tape under them so they play just under midsize, and they feel awesome.

As others have said, with a little love and care they last for ages and every now and them i give them a real good scrub with a wire pad and they come back like new.

I ended up going with the Lamkin UTX cord grips and I love them. I love the GP Tour Wrap 2G and kept those on my wedges for a little extra feel around the greens. On my woods and irons, they feel so good. They are a little rough but also have a lot of tack! So far so good!

The ZGRIP is GP's firmest and dare I say roughest grip they make. It is great for wet, humid conditions and for people who sweat a lot. It can be rough on the hands. I have one on my driver because I play in hot, humid conditions. I have never had a club slip. But if you don't like the MCC +4, I don't think that you will like the ZGRIP. To me, it is like the MCC on steroids. I would look at the Tour Velvet Cord or try the Lamkin grip you are considering.

Dale said it best about grips being like underwear. Grips are pretty subjective. If I am thinking of changing a style of grip, I usually try it out on one club first to make sure it works for me before committing to a whole set, and then finding out that you hate that particular grip.

Mid-size Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 is my go-to on all my clubs other than putter.

I don't wear a glove ever.

I play the MCC +4 standard Golf Pride. Because I like the Mid grip feel.
But the standard MCC would be the same if you're not used to a mid-type style grip.

The MCC grips I enjoy because the rubber portion is on the lower hand or the power hand ina golf swing. The Cord part is on the upper hand which is the lead hand which guides the club to impact.

I will use warm soap & water with a fine steel wool pad or sheet. keeps them clean and a great grip feel on both materials. I do that about 1 time a month or every 10-15 rounds.

Have you looked into at your local golf shop the Golf Pride Tour Wrap Microsuede. I have used them with 2 additional wraps and love them. But I switched to the MCC +4 because to me the feel was more balanced between my two hands.

But I used Lamkins for years and loved their product.

I don't wear a glove so feel is very important to me.

I do not wear a glove and prefer the Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 but I do probably have to clean them a bit more often to keep them from feeling slick. I also have very dry skin so my hands do not get sweaty which also helps me grip the clubs. I have thought about cord but my fingers already crack in the wintertime so cord would probably be too rough for me. Maybe experiment with one club to find what works for you and then change out the set.

I guess you know that white grips are tough to keep clean. Love it on my Cameron matador putter though!

Anyone have a suggestion for grip for a non glove player, I currently use your velvet but they can get slick but worried some of the others being too harsh?

In the midsize department, I've been playing Winn DriTrac for years. They're my favorite, but Dale is 100% in that everyone has their own preference.

Downside of the Winn grips is that they wear pretty quickly, but I love them for the humid summers we have in GA.

Grips are like underwear, everyone has their favorite and thinks everyone else's stinks. Go to a "big box store" where they have samples of most every brand and model and see what feels good to you. Maybe change out one club and play a few rounds before switching all out could save a few $$$ if you end up changing your mind. Definitely want grips that give you your best personal feel as that is the control point to every golf club. Good luck and enjoy.

Currently, I am playing the Tour velvet grips from Golf Pride and they are already getting worn down after one season. So I will get the Lamkin Sonar Black + since I already have it on my utility iron and love it! Now the whole rest of the bag will be getting that grip and I can honestly say that I am super excited about that.

I agree with the others saying MCC+4. Try the tour Velvet +4 as well.

I went to the new CPX by golf pride in midsized and love it.

I have had the Z Cords on my irons for the last several years have found them to be durable and really like the feel and the resistance to any slipping (I play in warm, cold, and everywhere in between). I do wipe them with water every few rounds to remove dirt/oil. I use a standard grip size with one extra tape wrap to provide just a bit more size. Have also had MCC+4 grips some time ago but found the use of full cord was preferable.

I'll add a positive comment about the Golfpride grips. Specifically the MCC+4 as Chuck noted above. Have them on all my clubs currently, sans 1 club. I was able to pick up the Z-Grip+2 recently and am trying that out. Note that the MCC+4 do come in midsize. I don't think the Z-Grip+2 does though - and that grip has been difficult to come by as of late.

I agree with you on the MCC+4 grip. The Lamkin UTX Grip isn't bad, but, Lankin's Crossline 360 Genesis Full Cord grip is in my opinion the best cord grip available today. I only recently had my hands on the Golf Pride Z-Grip and if felt pretty good so if you prefer Golf Pride I would not hesitate to give them a try.

Forgot to add that their SNSR 104 putter grips are simply the very best. Have them on all my putters. Love the pistol grip.

Greg: I love the MCC+4 grips and am a big proponent of GolfPride grips. They hold up well if properly taken care of. Go to their site and check out all the grips they have available and you might find a midsize that meets your needs. I feel Lamkin grips do not hold up as well as GolfPride. You can order directly from their store in Pinehurst.
