Try changing the grip. After that much time if it still has the old grip, it's likely a bit hard and slick. That can impact your feel.

Feel is also subjective. I have had putters that previous felt heavy or perhaps a bit harsh feel totally different after a hiatus.

And I own A LOT of Cameron putters...

Another Red X man here. My go to putter without a doubt. I haven't found it's lost anything, so over a dozen years and still going. Doesn't mean that it doesn't get a rest now and then, but due to me and developing bad habits. Out comes the California Del Mar until the habits get better again, and then back to the old faithful Red X. Have sent it back to Scotty for a change in shaft and grip, initials stamped on it, and back again. Hoping to reunite on the greens over the next few weeks when this white junk all over the ground is gone.

I also have the original (2004) Red X. Based on another company's app, I fit slight arc putters best. So, I currently use an old NP MidSlant. Since the Red X isn't truly face balanced, it nearly fits a slight arc stroke.
If my putter isn't working, I sometimes practice with a different putter and my putter suddenly 'behaves'!
Practice a mid-range putt with a few putters and pick the one that is most consistent for you.

That is hilarious! Thanks for that, Mark! I want to keep my wife, but I do think it's time for a new putter. Anyone tried any of the new Scotties that came out Friday? I haven't had a chance yet.

The mind, like people, needs a change of scenery every so often. This is especially true of putters. It's a good idea to change the look so the eyes get a different perspective. If you change putters, you'll probably putt great for a few days then it will fall off. Then, you go back to your old standard and all is well again.

i, too have a red x5 that's mint and i putted really well with it some years back. it took a few rounds of not putting well to get my head thinking and i think that's when it starts. you want to see what else there is and then you start to love something else. i've since been putting with my Mil-Spec for a few years and haven't looked back. putting really well now.
