This debate has been raging on for a while, so I thought it would be fun to hear what Team Titleist has to say... especially seeing as a hot dog at the turn is a staple for a lot of golfers out there.

With the weather as it is in the Metro NY area snack bars at the turn a mostly closed or only offer crackers and Gatorade. :-(

RE: Quick Poll: At The Turn Theme - Is a hot dog a sandwich?

Just because it is placed in between 2 sides of a bread bun does not become a sandwich.

If they were two different pieces of bread, then maybe that can go down that path.
But it is a design holder of whatever you place in it.

A sandwich by my definition has 2 separate pieces of bread with the main meal in between them.
A Coney has never been called a sandwich according to my father-in-law who is from New Jersey.

That statement is a good enough reason for me.....

The way I see it, if you are placing meat, cheese, condiments, etc. into a piece or pieces of bread to allow for a portable, handheld meal, it’s a sandwich.
Essentially, by utilizing bread to negate the need for a plate and utensils, you are following the the example of John Montagu, Earl of Sandwich, and in so doing, making a sandwich.

RE: Quick Poll: At The Turn Theme - Is a hot dog a sandwich?

I tend to only eat hot dogs either at a baseball game or at the turn, playing golf.

The hot dog is a sandwich. MIght add, mustard belongs on a hot dog. Case closed as Mike would say.

Quote from below sourse (Tasting Table):

Few dishes have a format as straightforward as a sandwich. At its most fundamental, it's as simple as cooking gets — ready-to-eat foods like cured meats, cheese, and vegetables placed between two slices of bread. Yet, take a gander at sandwich recipes, and it's clear how many renditions can be attributed to such a template. The filling can be an elaborate cooked food, like sautéed fish or fried chicken. The doughy vessels can encompass dozens of bread types, although most maintain they should be of the leavened variety.

Many of the sandwich classics are undisputed — no one's gonna claim that a Reuben or sweet and savory club sandwich doesn't belong to the category. However, if you start to stray from the most quintessential examples, the definition becomes more controversial. According to the dictionary, hot dogs are sandwiches, although the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council proposes they've evolved out of the term, and Anthony Bourdain similarly took a stand on the hot dog sandwich debate.

A sandwich is meat between two pieces of bread. A Hot Dog is a piece of meat and the bun is split in two. A brat with spuds is a bangers and mash. A frank with beans is something entirely different. So is the term “hot dog” generic enough for franks, brats, polish sausage, and even red hot franks?
