  3. Just had a great week at Torrey Pines and course was in immaculate condition . Just a shout out to the City of SanDiego for investing and making our city shine with this golf courses and the other ones that are maintained each day and is a good representation of the city and our community. Tournament was a lot harder than it seemed under the great weather course was still a good test and just wonder if sometimes they shorten some of the holes to make it more exciting instead of just making it longer. Make it to where chipping and putting are winners instead of length and iron play ..

Great, glad you had a great time out there. Torrey is fantastic. I don't know that it relates much to this specific thread, maybe a discussion on one of the posts under "On Tour" is a better fit. I am hoping this specific thread will have people posting their names that have signed up for the San Diego Team Titleist Play Day in March. That will help me know if we have filled the 24 spots.

I'm having meniscus surgery next week, so probably not going to work for me, but I sure wish I could head down for it (from northern CA).

If my recovery is quick and there is still room, then I'll see what I can do.

    Thanks for organizing!

Thanks, Dale! This sounds great. I've seen this yesterday and I've been convincing my group to move our date to another time. I'd love to play here and meet everyone- I hope to join.

Lost my good presence of mind with -21/-51 temps so a buddy and I signed up to get to someplace comfortable for a break from the Upper Midwest weather mania. Sooooo looking forward to shorts and not thermal underwear. Has all the makings of a great golf trip. Can't wait.

Is that why with the temp up to -3 today (heat wave!) I had another 2 inches on top of the foot we got in the last 3 snows?

I stopped in the clubhouse Wednesday to check things out. I forgot how nice everything there is... top notch! The course was looking great. The over-seeded rye fairways and dormant bermuda rough gives it a such a cool look. I have only played it once, early last year. I remember appreciating how playable the course was. It looks big and long but ample landing areas and very few blind shots. Some short par 4's and some long ones, not a course where every hole looks and plays the same. I think everyone will really enjoy the day.

How does it look right now for players?
Are there any games planned for the day?

Looks like we have half the spots filled but room for more. They can even expand out past the 24 reserved if we get more coming. We haven't set any "games" or "competition" up yet but certainly something we can do. The Grand has agreed to provide a couple of prizes for "closest to the hole" and "long drive". Abby has a said she will bring some special "welcome" gifts for all participants. That's usually some unique TT stuff. That alone is worth coming out for. We originally thought the tee times would start around 11AM. We have moved that up to 10AM which will give people even more time to head home including travelers that might fly out in the evening or have a long drive outside of the San Diego area.

If those that are traveling in for the weekend want to play on Saturday as well...
An afternoon meet up at Goat Hill Park might be a good way to gather a few folks for some Golf and a Cold one or two.
    Just throwing that out there.

    Cheers,

The 2 of us 'Sconnies on a buddy trip were looking at Goat Hill as a possible Saturday round - we haven't pulled the trigger yet. But If you have the tee time, we'll buy the seasonably appropriate liquid refreshment. Which, finally, won't have to be Fyreball.

Don- I think we can get tee times 2 weeks out at the Goat...but they always seem to be able to get folks out on the course...when do you plan on arriving in SD?

After dark on Friday. Is there a decent range at GH? We'll need to get our oil cans out and work on removing (the winter) rust.

it's not too bad...super nice short game area.
Where are you going to stay?

The Crossings in Carlsbad had a good range and very large putting green.
Encinitas Rance has a range that is ok...nice ocean views and 3 min from my place...it's my go to chipping and putting place.

A Marriott property off of the 805 just south of the 5 split. Since my last reply it's snowed 4 times, it's snowing all day today and more is forecast for Sunday. I may need medical attention on the first tee if sunny and 70. Too much of a shock. We'll likely get to GH in time for some range work, and if we need more work after the round, we'll hit Carlsbad on the way back. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to f/u on my questions

The Goat has a nice grass range!  Charley Hoffman and Xander play an 18 hole charity match called the Wishbone Brawl. Here are a couple of pictures of Charley on the range at the Goat.

We are just a couple of week's away from a great day of golf and camaraderie. A few spots still left if anyone is interested in joining us. Yes, the forecast really is for 70 degrees and sunny. We have been getting some rain and cooler temperatures but as predicted, looks like it will be a nice weekend. See the top of the post for details. Hope to see you there.

Come on No'l. Not that far to come down. I used to fly into Long Beach airport for business trips to Palmdale all the time. The 405 is painful but for a great golf day, its doable. Come down Saturday and spend the night, play Sunday morning and drive back Sunday night. Bring a friend or two. I plan to invite anyone that wants to join me Saturday night, to "keep the glass" night at my favorite beer dive in Escondido. Plan 9 Alehouse on Grand Ave.

I'm going to try and make one of the later time, doctor. I've cancelled my tee time at Arrowood. I'll be doing some driving around the area- I want to visit my unc in Chula, then back to Valley Center, then hopefully light traffic takes me to Goat Hill in time.

Also please do so prior to this Thursday so I can release the tee times if we don't fill the slots.
Goat hill is pretty chill...come out even if you don't get a tee time I'm sure they will accommodate.

In case you didn’t see it under “The Clubhouse” category, here’s the tee times for Sunday. Remember To roll your clocks up an hour Saturday night. I will be at Plan 9 Alehouse in Escondido Saturday night in case anyone is bored and looking for someplace to go. Tons of other places to go and see so feel free to do whatever and we will all meet up on Sunday. They will have a few tables reserved for us after the round so we can grab a bite to eat our just socialize a bit before we head home. See you Saturday night or Sunday.

A revised tee time roster due to a few adds and a few people dropping out. Hopefully no more changes but just in case, try to get there within the overall window in case we have to bump the pairings around again. Thanks.
