I’ve decided that a want to rust my wedges. I just want to know if this can be done with the brushed steels and if so what is the best way

RE: Is there a way to rust the sm7 brushed steels

Seems like a risky move knowing how much you invest in vokey wedges. I'd look into some 3rd parties that redo putter/wedge finishes and see how much they charge. Take pics or share your decision with us, would be interested in how everything turned out. Best of luck!

RE: Is there a way to rust the sm7 brushed steels

The SM7 brushed steel is nothing like the SM6 steel grey finish.
Looks different, feels different and sure wears differently.

I'm not sure it is an improvement over the SM6. Not pleased with the wear that is showing on these wedges after four rounds and ten or so practice sessions.

I think there is too much chrome in this finish to rust 'em up.

RE: Is there a way to rust the sm7 brushed steels

Naval Jelly!

RE: Is there a way to rust the sm7 brushed steels

I have heard of soaking the head in Coca cola and the finish will come off. This was on older wedges, so your results may vary. You will basically have a raw wedge then.

RE: Is there a way to rust the sm7 brushed steels

Not sure about the finish, but I used to wrap the head in a damp cloth for a few days. You might have to scuff the wedge up a it prior to that.
