  1. I am planning on getting a complete new set of vokey wedges but Im really unsure about what lofts and grinds I should try. My PW is quite a strong loft at 43, and in my current wedges I have nothing until a 52 which leaves a huge problem for my gapping. Is it worth getting a 48, 52, 56, and 60? maybe instead just a 50, 54, and 58 which leaves another club for an additional wood in the top of my bag. If anyone has any insight on that I'd love to hear it! I am also not that knowledgable about different grinds and bounces so if anyone knows what might suit me (I have a relatively steep swing, my misses are slightly chunky, and I take quite big divots) please let me know!

  2. A full set would require a decision on how and when you would use each wedge. If you are going to keep your current iron's PW, which is usually standard loft of 46-47 degrees, then you could add the GW at Vokey's recommended spacing of 4-6 degrees, then the 50 , 56 , 58 range would work. Adding the 48 would replace your current PW. As to your swing the lofts would benefit gearing towards more bounce in 12-14 range to alleviate too much digging, allowing an easier turf interaction. Do not forget again about their intended use which would favor the fuller swings with the 48 and 52 degree wedges having the same stiffness as your regular irons, since these will most likely be used for fuller swings. For example, if you consistently average 140 for your PW, the 52 degree GW would fit in your gapping range of 120-25 with a full swing. The higher lofted wedges could have their shafts reduced in stiffness, say a Dynamic Gold S400 for the added feel around the green and the traps which induces a more manageable spin on finesse shots. The SM11's are wonderful wedges when used for their intended purposes and having a more varied toolbox for those tricky 30-85 yard shots is where they shine. Good luck in your decision for they are an investment worthy of valued discernment.

    44F set to 42. 52-12F set to 50. 56-12D set to 55. 58-04T. 42-50-55-58. I carry Bunkr 64 for courses like Torrey Pines.
