So here's a new one TT,

I've heard of balls getting stuck in branches or limbs, but never actually imbedded in a tree.

We decided that this was an imbedded ball and gave the guy a drop.  I'm not sure if that was the rule, but this situation was just plain crazy.

You can see it about half way up on the left tree

    Yup, that's a ball.

I know that pine is a soft wood, but never thought it was soft enough to embed a ball into it....

haven't seen that one before, but I have witnessed the ball that didn't fall out of the tree.  We made the guy play it from the branch - about 6 feet off the ground.  Piñata shot if you will.  His swing wasn't pretty but made for a lot of good fun at the 19th hole.

Not sure what the rule would be but how did that happen????  Was this off the tee?  A shot from the fairway? That is crazy....

How did you ID the ball as his?

It kinda looks funny...I think the ball has been there for a long time...the dimple pattern looks pre 2000's.

    Correct me if in wrong.

    Interesting-

Wow!  I've seen some crazy things on the golf course, but never that.  He must have hit that tree in just the right spot.

We identified the ball using a range finder.  We saw a blue dot on it and we're pretty sure it was his marking.  When the ball hit the tree it made a really awkward sound.  I'm still not sure how the heck it happened- you gotta love golf.

You got two choices. Play it as it lies or take an unplayable lie and hit another ball from the last spot the ball was played, drop a ball from under the embedded ball two club lengths not closer to the hole or go back on a line as far as you like dropping the ball on that line that extends from the embedded ball and the flag stick and take a two stroke penalty.

Make that a one stroke penalty.

Funny timing on this, I saw a ball about a foot off the ground that a tree had been growing around just yesterday!

I have a feeling that this happens in desert golf a lot.  I presume that it would be the same as hitting it into a cactus...

The penalty for unplayable lie is one stroke no matter the relief chosen.

But remember like any ball stuck in a tree, you have to be able to identify that the ball is in fact the players ball.
