2103 Unforgiven Tour Ace
By Lorne B On 4 March 2013
For the past several years a group of 16-20 guys head to Orlando for a Ryder Cup long weekend. We play 8 rounds in 5 days with various games and skins for anyone who beats the field.
On Saturday, on the 11th hole at Southern Dunes, I hit my 6 iron from about 160. We saw it tracking from the tee and expected it to be close but could not see it finish. As there was another ball on the green and another just off to the left, pin high, we had no expectaiton that it was in the hole. But when my playing partner saw it was his ball on the green he immediately walked over to the hole and calmly called me over and looked down and said: "That's your ball." Stunned disbelief is the first thing that hit me. Not the euphoria that you would experience if you saw it go in off the tee. I did do a cart wheel which at 54 was probably not hte smartest thing to do.
The best part was that my very good friend, Dan Hirsh, who organizes the trip, was in the foursome. The worst part is that I did not even win a skin since my playing partner birdied the hole with a stroke.
