A father's proudest moment

My daughter, Kate, qualified for and played in the 2012 GSGA Junior Sectional Challenge Match in Valdosta, GA at the Valdosta Country Club on July 23rd & 24th. After making a par on her first hole (started on #7 par 4) she stepped onto the 8th tee box. It is a 120 yard par 3. She hit a 6 iron right at the flag. I was begging the ball to fly the front bunker. It did. It hit the green, took one hop and went straight into the hole!!!! An ace!!! We went crazy!!! What a birthday present (she turned 13 three days earlier). But his story doesn't end.....

Two holes later Kate tees up her Titlest NXT Tour on the par 5 hole #1 (her age group played the Bellemeade nine). She hit her best drive of the tournament. Decision time...do we lay up or try to fly the creek to get on the green??? She hit 5 wood about 170 yards pin-high into the middle of the green 12 feet from the hole. Then she rolls in the putt for her 2nd eagle in three holes!!!!

Here is the coolest part. After her round her group goes to he scorers table to sign their cards. Once they finished Kate and walked into the large ballroom where the main scoreboards were located. As we walked into the room about 200 players and parents gave my 13 year old daughter a standing ovation. I'm choking back tears as I type this. How cool is that????
